they SHOULD be viewed as more favorably to a top 5 team who lost at home
while y'all are tussling with rutgers, penn state, maryland, and a couple other shitty arse teams i can't think of we play a real damn schedule.
a one loss SEC west team should ALWAYS be favored over a one loss anybody else.

I actually think the loser of Ohio St/Michigan slips in before the A&M does(assuming we go 11-1 with a close loss to bama).
You can see the playoff picture starting to take shape. The most likely scenario is this:
#1 Alabama as the SEC Champion
#2 Ohio State/Michigan winner as the BIG 10 Champion
#3 Clemson as the ACC Champion
#4 Washington as the PAC12 Champion
I think the only way the BIG 12 gets in is if Baylor or West Virginia win out and Clemson and/or Washington also drop a game somewhere.
Where there could be real chaos is if you only have two undefeated teams (say Alabama and Ohio State), and then you have all of these 1-loss teams:
12-1 Washington (PAC 12 Champs)
12-1 Clemson (ACC Champs)
11-1 Baylor (BIG 12 Champs)
12-1 Michigan
11-1 Texas A&M
11-1 Louisville
...plus throw undefeated Boise State and Western Michigan into the discussion.
My gut feeling is that the real debate would be between Washington, Clemson, and Michigan. However, if Alabama is the clear #1 and Texas A&M's only loss was to them in Tuscaloosa... its hard not to consider them as well.
Could potentially be a real mess

Just playing devil's advocate here:
In this hypothetical, let's say both A&M and Michigan finish the year with 1 loss each to Bama and OSU respectively. A&M would have finished the season going 6-1 against ranked teams with a Sagarin SOS of 16th. Michigan would finish 2-1 against ranked teams with a Sagarin SOS of 49th. Call the intangibles like ticket sales, TV numbers, etc. a wash and I don't think it's automatic that the committee puts Michigan in over A&M.

CBS: A&M # 4 in CFP projection

That poll is rife with stupidity.....not referring to aTm's rank

This is so incredibly stupid as it isn't a projection but a ranking.
Unless they are suggesting that Washington/Big12 Champ lose at least 2 games, there is no way 2 teams from the same conference make it in.

Right now you have wins over three ranked teams and one or two of them are likely to finish the season ranked. You have upcoming games against two teams that are at the lower end of the rankings and at least one of them is likely to finish the season unranked. Then there is the game against Alabama. They'll be ranked at the end of the season.
You're over selling your schedule.

A) I used the same words the article did in the headline: "Projecting the College Football Playoff Rankings: Texas A&M edges Michigan". None of this is to say that this is actually how things will end. I think most posters caught that.
B) I did extrapolate that out into a discussion about the likelihood of any conference getting 2 in, and that the most likely outcome would be champs of the P4. This is ALMOST regardless of ranking, but if something like a 2- or 3-loss conference winner were to upset a Top 5 team in a conference championship game, that would probably change things.
It really does seem like you are just arguing for arguing's sake.
