In this thread, lawyers brag about being too dumb for law review.

Edited to add: law school isn't the most useful thing in the world as a means of judging future success, but someone struggling would lead me to believe they will also struggle in complex or difficult situations.

TL;DR: it's a weird thing to brag about

I have worked with many lawyers and I would say the best ones were normally somewhere in the middle, not top of the class but not bottom either. There are also many facets to being a attorney. Some lawyers never enter a court room but are great at writing legal documents. Some lawyers are great talkers and excel in the courtroom but can't write very well.

neither does passing the bar. law school prepares you to deal with a truck load of bullshite on a day to day basis, not how to practice law.

I'd take it a step further. I'd say nothing prepares you to deal with a truck load of bull shite on a day to day basis.

If they can't write well, they're not an effective attorney. This isn't 1950. I find that the more academically accomplished lawyers tend to write better. Not a hard and fast rule though.

If you were going to cite good "Lawyers" as a reason why a school avoids NCAA punishment, point to Bama. Their Law school is probably better than Vandy's.

This thread is pointless and everything you said about SEC law schools is wrong. Alabama law is nowhere near Vanderbilt's law school. Vandy is widely accepted as one of the best schools outside the top 14. Alabama is a regional school, just like every other SEC law school not named Vanderbilt. I know several third year law students at Alabama that will soon be unemployed lawyers.

I would think that a "Law School's" primary responsibility would be to teach its students THE LAW. Not how to practice it necessarily. From there I would say that an institution's Law School wouldn't be much different from any other field that they teach. Its "worthiness" would depend on a number of factors, but primarily it would depend on that institution's commitment to teaching the law well. Meaning, you gotta hire the best professors.

Now, I'm not a student of law, but I wouldn't even put Ole Miss Law and Arkansas Law in the same sentence. Bill and Hillary Clinton are Arkansas Law Alumnus, and those two are easily the slickest two bastards in the country.

What I meant by that is that they both were professors at the UofA School of Law.

As I said, a Law School should be measured by the quality of its professors.

Not saying that Arkansas has a premier school, but it's pretty solid.

his tenure as a professor lasted, i think, one year, and it was right after he graduated from law school. Hillary only taught for one year as well, and then joined Bill on the campaign trail

And they have some damn good ones up there now. One of whom I know personally.

How long they were there wasn't the point I was trying to make. It's the school's commitment to hiring the best they possibly can and how that translates to other schools.

It's a silly argument anyways. I'm sure that all the SEC schools have tremendous law schools.

Nope have a BBA, MBA from Ole Miss, but LSU for law school. would have been better off to stay at Ole Miss since most of my practice has been here, but got bored in Oxpatch.

I hated every fricking minute of LSU school btw, paperchase days, failed out 30% of my section.

Agree with you Rockee. Just like the good professors told us at LSU, law school success has almost no relevance to law career success. 90% of law review when I was there, you would never want near a big case, and even never ever in a Courtroom.

First, this is idiotic

Second, there is legal life outside of litigation
