You people are aware that our law school is a 3rd or 4th rate law school at best, right? I wouldn't exactly say the best and brightest get their legal education here. Makes no more sense to associate Ole Miss with "Lawyers" anymore than it does LSU or Arkansas

If you were going to cite good "Lawyers" as a reason why a school avoids NCAA punishment, point to Bama. Their Law school is probably better than Vandy's.

Ole Miss has a shitty law school (as you said) which is why there is so much corruption within the legal industry in Mississippi. MS lawyers from OM or MS College have to learn to bend the rules in order to make a living. Same way that OM football has to break the rules to stand a chance in the SEC West as a 3rd tier program.

Think about the two most successful lawyers who graduated from Ole Miss Law. One writes books and the other lost his law license and was just released from prison for literally bribing a judge who was serving on a case Scruggs was working. Mississippi has always been a state that feels like the rest of the world does not understand them and is out to get them and so they do things their own way.

I hate to break it to you but law schools produce good lawyers isn't like SEC football produces NFL players. It is a requirement to get a degree nothing more. Judge them on bar results and call it a deal. They don't teach you shite about practicing law.

Good law firms and legal climates produce good lawyers. Some of the worst lawyers I have ever dealt with are from Harvard, Yale, and other Ivy league schools. There are a significant numbers of national players that have Ole Miss law degrees, like Haley Barbour, Scruggs, etc.

the bar is pass or fail. there are bad attorneys who can pass the bar

neither does passing the bar. law school prepares you to pass the bar, not how to practice law.

I think a better way to phrase that is that law school teaches you about the law which in turn prepares you to pass the bar. Nothing can really teach you how to practice law except experience and other good attorneys around you.

An old lawyer told me once that when you get a job as a lawyer, forget everything that they taught you in law school....it has almost nothing to do with being an attorney.

Agree with you Rockee. Just like the good professors told us at LSU, law school success has almost no relevance to law career success. 90% of law review when I was there, you would never want near a big case, and even never ever in a Courtroom.

Same goes for quality of the school, may help you get your first job, but that's about it.

We use to play drinking game with one Harvard guy during months of depos years ago and see how many times we could get him to say "Harvard" in a day. The lowly "Ole Miss" guys ate his lunch btw. Hell I could "out lawyer" him drunk or hung over, which actually happened a few times.

Who here talks about Ole Miss as anything but a glorified community college? State fans?

We know your school sucks arse. Your academics are off the charts, as in "NR" in most categories.

I like the saying that goes something like this:

A students at law school become professors

B students become judges

C students become lawyers
