Bottom line is that the 4 team playoff is 100 times better than the poll era (what a joke) and the BCS era. Never will a team like 2004 Auburn be shut out. TCU lost a game, at that point you have no argurement.

Even though the new playoff system isn't perfect, it is better than the old BCS system. Alabama vs Florida State would have been the championship game under the BCS.

Say what you will about FSU....if you win every game you play (including a conf champ. game) and you are in a Power 5 conference you will be rewarded.

If you are telling me this needs to be changed....OK but no undefeated power 5 team that doesn't get in needs to bitch in the future.

I agree that FSU wasn't as strong as TCU, but leaving out an undefeated power 5 team in the first year would have set a horrible precedent.

Right...IMO if FSU would have been left out this year the CFP would have started out as a illegitimate system.

>secrant.com says they didn't belong in the playoff

I agree, but they went undefeated in a power 5 conference. They did everything required of them to be in the playoffs. With the BCS, they would have been the #1 seed. Would their defense have matched up as poorly against Ohio State's offense as they did against Oregon's?

Would Alabama have been more equipped to handle the Ducks?

We very well could have had a completely different result.

#1 Florida State vs #4 Ohio State
Florida State's defensive line is much more readily equipped to stop Ohio State's run game than was Oregon. Also, Florida State's red-zone offense would provide more matchup issues for Ohio State's defense. FSU could win this.

#2 Alabama vs #3 Oregon
Alabama's defense and running game would have done exactly as Ohio State's did. Alabama pulls away late for a 2 score victory.

#1 Florida State vs #2 Alabama
FSU actually is not the big underdog one would imagine in this one. Florida State certainly has all of the tools to remain in striking distance late in this one setting up a potential late game-winning drive by Famous Jameis.

It's all about the seeding.

The score against Oregon was lopsided but 5 turnovers will make any game look like that. It's not like FSU was completely outmanned in their game. They were just sloppy and I think Oregon had more intensity, just like OSU brought more intensity last night. It's not only the match up, which is huge, but where a team is mentally and physically at game time.

I think the way the playoff played out just made it more obvious they couldn't allow TCU or Baylor into the playoff. You can't leave out the undefeated, defending national champs, but that was the worst team out of the 4. It's a lose-lose.

What ticks me off is Bama should have drawn FSU in the first round.
