Did he play against Arkansas? Noticed they ran for 232 and 5 1/2 per carry.

Just curious here, y'all seem to be hyping up your run defense ITT but the rushing attack with a pulse seemingly had their way on the ground

this is what i don't understand, A&M fans brag about stopping the run, but during the Arky game they couldn't. Arky ran right at those ends and neutralized their speed, just like LSU and Arky did last year.

Thats exactly what bama will do. By the third I look for Henry to start ripping off huge chunks and controlling the game.

After the game everybody will be saying how they were wrong and Henry is underrated not overrated.

42-17 BAMA.

Put a TE, and OT to pound on him for the first half, and in the second half he will be toast. Not saying he is not a great player at all, but not many DE out there can handle that kinda punishment.

What was his grade against arky? A team with a pulse of a running game

Bama should run right at him. Lsu did it last year, just like they did against Clowny. The end result was not good for Garrett or Clowny. The best way to neutralize an awesome, speed, passes rusher is to run power at them

They should, I don't study tape but i feel like Garrett has improved the run defense portion of his game and I hope Chavis comes up with a defensive game plan to counteract running right at him.

I think we have much better DL depth this year which keeps him fresher as well. He's done a lot of his damage in the 4th quarter

he only had a strip sack to keep Arkansas from scoring on their final drive of regulation

Y'all are saying run right at him, do you see that +5 run stop grade? I don't think you realize how good that is, that's good enough for top 10 in the SEC among the D-line, so run at him if you want you just wont be getting too many yards

yeah, but arky ran right at him with lots of success. and state didn't really have anyone who could run the ball. So I'm leery about those stats because they don't reflect exclusively SEC performance.

thats fine but Arky ran right at both ends and had a ton of success. What happened then?

Thats the team that compares to bama and LSU rushing wise.

Maybe mack is going to make a bigger difference then I am giving him credit for, i dunno. But I can almost promise that bama is going to try and run right at garrett and he will have to prove he can stop it. I think Mack is the key on this as he is going to be blocked 1 on 1 and if he can consistently beat the block and make the tackle well it will force bama to change the game plan. But your run defense got skull fricked against arky so I will have to believe it to see it.

Cheif will have something up his sleeve though and he almost always has an amazing game plan against bama even when out matched.

Cam Robinson vs Myles Garrett

Alabama will run the ball. Myles may have a tough time of it. Currently he is a one trick pony.

Why are y'all ranked in the bottom half of the country stopping the run? It's getting worse game by game too.

Because our defense against the rush isn't great?

Arkansas was also holding pretty much every play not to mention I don't think it's fair to call out Garrett for the Arkansas game because he was being double teamed by TE and OT all game

A good coaching staff will look at this, and wait for him to be out of the game for a breather to pass, or play action. It will be more of can Coker pick it up and audible at the line to change the play up.

True but then Alabama is getting out of what they should be doing against us which is running the ball. If Garrett goes out on 1st down and then bama throws an incomplete pass now you might be looking at 3rd and long with a fresh Garrett.

We have played poorly at the LB position. We have had one guy manage to stay healthy. Our LBs have not maintained gap integrity well at all. Our DL has actually played well but that doesn't matter if a LB can't get there to plug the A gap.

Hopefully our guys have healed up a bit and Chavis has retaught some fundamentals, but its a big concern.

What the frick are you talking about?

Most of the aggies in this thread are talking about how it will be difficult to control bamas run game

Not trying to take the typical 3rd and Chavis stance on this, but Saban has kinda owned his defensive philosophy for a few years now. I would be more concerned about if a&m can score enough on them.
