Are you really trying to downplay Cam in that LSU game?

Not so much downplay as put it in perspective. In 2010 Newton put up 300 total yards and 2 TDs against a top-15 defense at home and is revered for it. In 2012 Manziel put up 350 total yards and 2 TDs against the #1 defense in every category (and statistically a top-10 defense EVER) with the highest completion % against them in three years, on the road no less, and he is called a fluke and lucky.

You'll forgive me for being underwhelmed when Auburn fans cry foul here.

While we're distorting stats here, take away the Auburn game and LSU moves up into the top ten for the season in rush defense, btw.

No way he can downplay that performance. We had a great defense that year so obviously he just pulled some stats and didn't see that game.

I just get frustrated when stats, reason and logic are thrown out the window in favor of tradition, hindsight and bias.

I've crushed every single argument presented in this thread with facts and statistics and it is simply being ignored in favor of "well you weren't THERE so you don't know"? It's like arguing with six year olds.

So what happened statistically in those games yall lost? Did stats help you then? Or do you want to flip flop between stats and intangibles as you see fit?

Manziel also had a much larger supporting cast to make that happen as well. That auburn team just had a supporting Cam.

I didn't argue anything except you discounting Newton's LSU game as not so impressive because you came from the almighty offensive league known as the Big 12 is among the most ludicrous things I have ever heard.

And yeah, if you didn't actually watch the game, your opinion is diminished. Sorry, stats don't always tell the whole picture of any given situation. They are a great tool for analyzing performance, but you need to actually see a player perform to get a complete analysis.

Negative, take away the Auburn game and average the other 12 games together and LSU would have been #29 in rush defense. You'd have to take away the top 5 rushing games of the year against them to push them into the top-10.

Of course there is, but not solely based on any reasoning presented in this thread.

Who had the bias here. You have fans of the team your guy plays for saying he's the best. You have fans from ALL the other teams saying Cam is the best. Most of the fans from other teams even hated Cams guts when he was there so why would they be biased towards him. Take off the maroon glasses man, your bias is showing

It wasn't even one of the five best defenses of the Les Miles era statistically. Finished outside the top-10 in total defense and scoring defense and outside the top-20 in turnover margin.

I swear some of you just make shite up.
