upvote for truth--- does anyone besides family like grad ceremonies?
Sometimes not even families. I'm glad I have only one kid cuz I'll never go to another.
When my son walked at AU all it was was a "which idiot family can yell/use noisemakers loud enough to drown out the next kids name" contest. It was a ridiculous farce.
My suggestion is if you want to "officially" graduate with some semblance of dignity, just wait until you open the envelope at home.
(Now my son's Army commissioning ceremony that day? THAT was a ceremony held with dignity and class and amongst families and graduates showing respect for one another.)

I'm glad that Joe Namath was proud to walk after graduating at Alabama. It's actually an inspiration to other people who left college early.
Also, last week, a past Bama RB Tony Nathan graduated and walked after being drafted by the Dolphins in 1979.

Tony Nathan had a promise to keep and that is why a 58-year-old man and former running back on the Miami Dolphins proudly received his college diploma last weekend at the University of Alabama.
With tears in his eyes and so much gratitude in his heart.
“I felt happy and I felt like crying at the same time,” Nathan said of the graduation ceremony. “But when I was handed my diploma, what I really felt was pride.”
