@BarrettSallee: Jones on Dobbs' dev: "When you're forced to play so many young players at young stages in their college careers, it sets their growth back."

TN fans, y'all are in good hands.

Well Grier was clearly concerned playing as a freshman was setting his growth back, he just did something to counteract that setback

Yeah,

Exactly. We see how well playing sparingly in mostly meaningless games and garbage time helped Jeremy Johnson develop into a Heis...oh wait.

I think for certain guys, at particular positions, it can shatter their confidence. All in all, I think Butch's quote was BS, and hopefully it was taken out of context.

I actually agree with you some here. We had a guy, Brendan Langley, who played as a freshman and got absolutely torched game after game and it just killed his confidence.

But overall, you're absolutely right, it's just a BS quote from Butch and he has to start taking responsibility for some of the struggles in the program.

I'd like to see the entire quote. Don't be a gator fan about this and only tell 1/2 the story.

Either way, it doesn't matter, we're all tired of hearing about youth.

Remember "we are no where close to where we need to be" quote a week or so before season started...I knew then he was shitting himself and sending wrong message to his locker room. That doesnt instill confidence in players Butchy...I tried to warn the hillbillies after all the freaking chest puffing and even a few posters talking about playoff spots to boot...WTF?

I was hard on the hillbillies for long time because of all the shite talk...now I just feel sorry for them. UGA, UF or anybody else talks crap like this before the season starts ?...I do have to hand it to the dawgs...but I think it may be the long history of failure under Helen that keeps them quiet? UT needs to do something first...then ok, go ahead and shout to the rooftops. Getting 3 SEC wins against VU, UK and USC was not worthy of such ballyhoo.

Anyway...beat Bama.

Yes, he, Kyler Kerbyson and Marquez North are the only upperclassmen starting on offense. And with North's injury streak, calling him a starter is a major stretch, IMO. So, it's really just two guys on offense. The rest are freshman on sophomores.

We start 7 upperclassmen on defense, so that side of the ball is not really young at all.

Second units are made up almost exclusively of F and S.
