Mark my words, before the season is over there will be conversations about how UT is still young. The Benjamin Button of college football.

I think every team has the injury excuse as an option if 5 or 6 of their most important players get injured for the season.

I mentioned that show how extreme of measures it would take to for anything less that 10-2 to not be a massive failure.

Older bricks are better than these new bricks.

But it's refreshing to see something different out of Lyle for a change. Because if I hear "we're a young team " or "the depth isn't where we'd like it to be " one more fricking time, I'm gonna throw a brick at that motherfricker.

UT is just like LSU this season - there are no more excuses for either team. It's Atlanta or bust for both.

Lyle needs to focus on game management. He will cost Tenn games with bad decisions unless he finally changed that chart.

It's going to be real interesting between UT and UF in the East this year. I'd really like to USCe put the pieces back together pretty fast too.

I actually see the Vols winning the east this year. It will however be a tight three horse race between them, Georgia, and Florida. The East should be exciting to watch this year.

So Tennessee isn't the youngest team in CFB anymore?

Oh wait, that means next year Tennessee will be the youngest team again.

Like V&S basically said, any thread about Butch Jones is going to get downvoted to hell on this board, unless it's in relation to lesbianism, poor in-game management, or failing to have a player drafted. But it's so nice to actually see him embrace the no excuses mindset. He fired a DC who gave up only 20ppg last year but struggled mightily late in close games, and got a big upgrade. As much as his in-game decisions are criticized for being too conservative, that was a bold move. He knows that this year is THE year that UT has a chance to be truly special, and even though we should still be fairly well off for 2017, it doesn't line up as favorably then as it does now. Double digit wins and a division title are now the expectation, and barring a slew of injuries (though any team can say this), there truly are no excuses.

"Clutch plays, clutch plays you're either winning or your losing, no grey area."

There is a difference between passion and emotion, we don't like emotional people we like passionate people. There is a difference, emotional teams ride the roller coaster, that's not us. We're are an older veteran team now, we are mature, we take it one snap at a time."

This is directly to the team and what he has been saying to the media as well. Glad to see him speaking the truth this season and knowing he has no excuses.

I like the message to the team, keeping all the practice situation like end of game close winning and losing type situations as that was our one weakness last year.

12-1 SEC Champs coming!!!

LOL. Slick Rick Clausen with the Cotton Bowl MVP in the 38-7 thrashing. I remember Aggie fans bragging about how the bowl game was going to be a home game for them.

How embarrassing for Aggy. Getting destroyed in a de facto home game by the noodle armed less talented Clausen

I love how this thread has slipped to the second page because the Ranters are scared to death to know that the Vols are about to frick them up and this OP reminds them of that fear.

I believe the UF game will determine the outcome of the season. We beat UF and we'll win the east. However, if we lose then I don't see us doing that great the rest of the season. But Butch is putting in work to make sure that we win against UF and go to Atlanta so we shall see.

Scroll down and see where we were last year, and we won it all.
