It's a shame that it's going to be wiped from the record books.

But it's not. Keep hoping for the downfall of big brother Ole Miss in order for your second rate program to gain some sort of delusional fulfillment.

If it weren't for a stretch of football games in the 60's and 70's MSU would lead OM in every one of the big three sports. Baseball and basketball aren't even close..

You're right, I am sure Tunsil was more than eligible to play in that game.

10 win regular seasons, play in the SEC Championship game. Maybe Ole Miss should try those two things sometime.

Dan Mullen is 2-29 against final AP ranked teams. Butch Jones is 3-20. This hypothetical scenario is similar to having to choose between developing either a brain tumor or AIDS.

Maybe Mississippi State should try to inch towards an all-time .500 record and eventually pass UK and Vandy

When being right is commonly dismissed by others as being "salty"

Huge difference.
Butch Jones coaches at Tennessee, once a premier program, with a long history of winning.
Dan Mullen is a Mississippi State....

Based off Dan Mullen's tenure, we are heading in that direction.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss is heading for probation, with visions of playing for an SEC Championship and 10 win regular seasons being just a dream.

Keep scratching and clawing to get out of the bunker that is last place in the history of the Southeastern Conference.

We have not been good for our entire history, that is correct. I can think of plenty teams that would have traded places the last 5 years

Recuriting is a big part of a head coachs job. If it's just on field coaching Mullen 100%. If it is all around head coach Mullen right now but it all comes down to this season for Jones.

Mullen right now. I don't know if he can recruit well enough to win big, though.

He can't, but that's not necessarily all on him. As I've stated, Mississippi State is the worst program in conference history - also factor in that Starkville is one of the worst college towns in America. Even with their woman beating 5* bolstering their 36th ranked class, that's really about as good as it'll ever get. State does well scheduling pusscake OOC schools to rack up wins and has Kentucky as their permanent opponent from the East. So 2-6 in SEC play will always manufacture a low-rent postseason appearance. Being the historical whipping boy of the conference, what more could you really ask for?

A 10 win season and to play in the SEC Championship game. You wouldn't think being a whipping boy that State would be the only program in the SEC West who hasn't done those things.
Enjoy probation, I am sure the mecca you call Oxford will help ease the pain.

I like both guys but I think CBJ has an institutional advantage at Tennessee. Now that the machine is mostly rebuilt he'll reap the recruiting and other benefits that go along with that. Mullen OTOH doesn't have that and short of OM-style cheating, he'll continue to take the slower but steadier path to building a solid program.
