November 15,1969: Ole Miss 38 #4 Tennessee 0. Worst margin of loss ever by the SEC Champion that year. In the spirit of fairness I wanted to throw Ole Miss a bone.

Archie was hell on wheels that year. His last minute touchdown drive also prevented LSU from winning the SEC and going undefeated heading into bowl season. That was near the tail end of the original glory days for Ole Miss. They were pre-season favorites to win the SEC the following season and Archie was the Heisman favorite as well. A broken arm suffered early in the 1970 season prevented him from reaching either of those goals, though he would valiantly return to play against LSU in the season finale with a cast on his arm. Archie Who was a game s.o.b.

That was a heckuva team. Just ask any Auburn fan about the 1969 Houston team.
Houston is the team that broke Archie's arm in 1970. They were independent back then and typically had a bunch of 20 and 21 year old Freshmen. They were rough and tough and Bill Yeoman had that Veer rocking.

Ole Miss: We very occasionally beat teams that win championships

That's a long bumper sticker but I think it will fit.

Can't think of a team that was the only loss for 3 NC teams; ND - 1977, Florida - 2008 and Alabama this year. Fairly unique you must admit.
