Yeah probably, but he did have to start from scratch. He's had to use tons of grad transfers and juco guys to keep us afloat. I'd rather him do that than take borderline freshmen and have them clog up your roster for several years. He's been getting talented young players. The problem is that they're still young. I'm fine with everything so far.

Yes but at the same time you can see why we have struggled in SEC play. Year 1 was a roster that was duct taped together and went as far as KT Harrell could take us. Last year's team isn't as bad as record indicates but injuries (specifically Dunans), NCAA hold ups (Danjel Purifoy) and leading scorer being a dumbass (Kareem Canty) lead to the collapse that season. I mean Bowers was our point guard at one point

Now we are starting 4 true freshman with one of them in Wiley that left high school early and joined the team midyear. Because of that we do so much dumb stuff which has lead to us blowing some winnable games (BC, UGA, OM). It's frustrating and I think we should be better than 2-4 in SEC (namely should have at least split OM/UGA if not won both at home) but most AU fans recognize how we got here and where we are going. Now if we finish season 4-12 in SEC or something like that then I will start having some real concerns unless the injury bug strikes again. My hope now is AU can go somewhere between 7-9 & 9-7 but we will see. We have at least won the 2 games in SEC play we absolutely had to win. Need to win Saturday for me to start feeling good again about this team

Pearl has Auburn headed in the right direction. Auburn basketball has been shite for two decade but looks to doing well. I feel confident that Auburn will be battling for NCAA spots with MSU in no time.

Not quite 2 decades. 99 we were ranked #1 at a point in the season and were a 1 seed. 2003 we lost by 1 in the sweet 16 to Carmelo and Syracuse who won the title that year. In the 13 years since then we've fit in enough suck in to fill 2 decades though

Not really. This is close to what we expected at this point. Everybody knew it would be a long rebuilding process and if you scroll up from your post that i replied to you can see where I explain why.

Preseason Auburn fans were predicting an NIT season. At 12-6 we're on that trajectory. Some of us had hopes for an outside shot at a low seed in the ncaa tourney, and if this team could finish and had won some games we really should've we could pretty easily be at 15-3 and be in good shape for tourney talk. It's obvious watching this team we have talent and a lot of potential, they just haven't completely put it together yet.

Pearl said himself this is the first season he had any postseason hopes. It's no secret Pearl isn't the best x's and o's coach and some other coaches probably could've taken this team to a better record so far, but there's no other coach we could have realistically hired at the time that could've done better than Pearl has, and I don't think there's many other coaches at all period with the recruiting prowess to have brought this much talent to Auburn. Or for that matter have the personality to energize the fanbase like he has.

TL:DR
We're really right on track for what we thought when he was hired, and preseason. Some coaching performances have been disappointing though.

No, you didn't. Pearl proved himself at Tennessee, so I don't doubt that he's a good coach. Whether he can win at auburn remains to be seen.

Can't fault the aubs for being hopeful, and can't fault everybody else for saying "show me before you crow about it".

As funny as that is, Ogeron could probably muster a better record than JJ at this point!

This is fair. And I know a lot of people are just trolling because this is tRant, but it's obvious a lot of people also just have zero idea what they're talking and just choose to believe what they want instead of listening to reason just because they don't like Auburn or whatever.

Alabama and Auburn are both on the come up in basketball. We're both at about the same level too since we started behind yall, so I'm looking forward to some exciting basketball iron bowls beginning with this Saturday

Good for Bruce. Nice accomplishment.

Bruce is a good coach, I just think he may be in a bit over his head at Auburn. The next season or two will tell a lot.

What's the point of this bump? He still has over 500 wins. I'm sure there are much better threads to bump

How about these?

Funny how arkansas and south Carolina fans want to deflect from football when talking to an Auburn fan. Wonder why that is?
