You guys should just get Charles Barkley to be your coach.

Probably could get some high quality recruits. Also, funnel some of your cheating money to the bball program as well.

If AU ever managed to put a quality product on the floor, I think AU fans would care a LOT. Right now we are sort of numb after years of BBall Suckage.

If we got Pearl, that arena would be full every game

Yep. Auburn has always packed every venue when a quality product is out there. If the product is not quality, we don't attend. That can be said for every single fanbase in the SEC.

Auburn wouldn't be a bad place for Pearl to land.
AU has invested money into their brand new arena. A quality coach like Pearl will be given plenty of time. No pressure.
Auburn is the perfect home for a man needing a second chance.

Jury is still out on Gus, Chizik had a great year, AU fans were "all in" and he was fired 2 years later.

Galloway was hated by a lot of Sooner fans.

If he wants it to step onto something better in 2-3 years, just getting AU to the NIT or sniffing NCAA would be impressive/awesome

If he builds something solid he wants to stick with, Auburn has the facilities to maintain a program. Also, Auburn supports basketball pretty well when we win (all like 3 seasons in our history it happened)

Mal Moore did this to a degree. Hire Mike Price and Mike Shula and two awful women's basketball coaches. He then had a string of incredibly good hires with Saban, Jay Seawell for men's golf, Mic Potter for women's golf, helping change Murphy's mind about leaving softball for LSU, and the last women's basketball coach. The men's golf team pulled off a head scratcher but great hire getting Okie State's former head coach as an assistant. That was a shocker in the same way Auburn luring the stud softball coach from Arizona.

I started the Buzz Williams thread but would be happy with Pearl as well. Both of them have a wide relationship base in recruiting circles and I believe would be able to up the talent in short order.

I assumed Pearl would sit out one more year to let the show cause end.

I don't see why he would be worried about it if the school hiring him isn't. Plus a school like Auburn, that gave Barbee 4 losing seasons before firing him, would give him time to get things going.

If he retains Ryan Miller and has quality assistants, he will get a decent enough recruiting class just from them recruiting. He also gets paid a shite ton for a year and a half
