I just like that Bama went out and got the one coach that may be more cartoonish than Pearl. I can't look at Avery and take him seriously.

Bruce Pearl...because we know what he's capable of at this level. But I am very excited to see what Avery Johnson can accomplish.

Right now Bruce Pearl is a proven coach in CBB. I like his enthusiasm and how he has put AU out there for the public to see. Y'all got a good coach.
For our situation, I think AJ ended up being a very good hire. He has already done more promotion for the program in a day than AG did in 6 years. We will see how that works in recruiting and on the court.
ETA Right now Pearl, in 2-3 years, who knows.

As a Dallas Mavericks fan, and one that doesn't care about what happens in the state of Alabama, I can give you an unbiased assessment of Avery Johnson. He's really bad at in game adjustments and puts too much on his guards. I don't think that will matter if he can recruit, which is far and away the most important characteristic of a coach. Given that he's an NBA guy, he might be able to recruit on that, but it's to Alabama... not exactly a hot bed of college basketball. What are Bama fans expecting here?

This is like Saban being beat by Tuberville in 2007. Sure Tuberville got him the first year, but everyone knew where things were going after that. Regardless if Bama is able to salvage their recruiting class in a week, Auburn should easily beat Alabama both times next season.
