Great point Jon,
So what you're saying is that there is very little chance that Petrino could retain all those great assistant coaches that John Smith has hired and brought on staff to the U of A?
I think a repentent and personally improved Petrino would be about the best college coach in the nation and somebody is going to take a chance on him and win big. It's ok Jon, you know football, you're just don't understand people very well.
Doesn't matter, I don't think his wife (that he is trying to repair his relationship with) is going to be down with him returning to the scene of the crime.

Petrino's ability to attract and keep a good coaching staff will never be as strong as it was. How can you trust a man who put his career and everything he's put into the program at risk over a young blonde? Assistant coaches who are trying to make a living aren't going to forget what Petrino did just b/c Petrino apologizes; talk is cheap. It will takes years for Petrino to rebuild the trust people had in him, and it will probably never be where it once was.

He's great at developing QB's and running an offense; but again, he won't be winning 10 games when stud players no longer want to play for him and great assistants no longer want to coach for him.

I understand the thinking of people like Jeff Long who will be making the decision on our next coach. Petrino is not worth the risk or the baggage; that's partly why Long fired him.

I think if their was a solution out there that fans could lock on to then the Petrino obsession would not be as strong by this point.
The lack of clear alternative/solution is what is keeping the fires burning on this.
Plus, it was very refreshing and enjoyable to have a coach that the other team's fans hated.

(he didn't actually say that but I think it sounds like something he would say had he been asked about it)

It's gonna happen, there's a great chance we rehire Bobby if Long's first choice has a shitty season this year.

Just saw this thread but here is my take on Petrino. If he can get his shite straight and get his job back at Arky he will be dangerous. Even with the whole distraction of that sexy blonde he was able to have good success and if you take the distraction away and he concentrate on coaching he would be on a mission to cause chaos in the SEC.

Ummkay - the season starts in 2 weeks maybe fans should just focus on that now. The Facebook page is just more proof that we have several 'touched' people as fans, I doubt they can concentrate on both the season and coach search.

I can concentrate on more than one thing at a time...is that bad?
Sorry, didn't see the last sentence...but why do you think these fans are not concentrating on the season? Proof?
