So, what is the consensus?

Good recruiter, not great at developing talent?

I'm actually interested in whether he is a good coach...

I'd also put a lot of the directional University of Texas schools ahead of tamu. Like Sam Houson State, UTSA, etc. kinda like how central Florida and USF are all superior to famu

Texas is a good place to lay low for a while.

Chavis put so little emphasis on getting pressure from the DL that its extremely difficult to tell.

However, circa 2008, LSU was regarded as DLine U. Since then, most of our guys have gotten drafted on measurables and potential.

Not a single LSU fan would rather have him than Orgeron.

Pretty much answers it, at least IMO. Every team has 4 and 5 star guys that just don't pan out, but Brick seems to have several every year that don't live up to their potential.

He brings in highly regarded guys and then they just don't get much better. I Remember reading an article someone posted a few months ago, it had comments from a NFL GM about the lack of technique LSU Dlinemen had. That is pretty much all on Brick and why I believe he isnt the best at developing talent.

One of the best in the business. Which is why he made a lateral move from LSU to Texas. Probably a step up if I'm being honest. Chavis' hire on the other hand was evidence of LSU's superiority to tamu in just about every way.

You see, my Aggie friends, LSU is like the New England Patriots. We Max out the potential of players and coaches, but we won't over pay them; congrats if they land a higher paying gig at a dump of a program (I would equate tamu to the Jets or the Redskins), but they'll see that they should have taken less money and a more secure job at LSU rather than a big up front paycheck and a short term dumpster fire.

Use Anthony Johnson as proof. #1 or #2 player nationally in HS, but never reached his full potential while at LSU. UDFA in the NFL, and has made more plays with the Dolphins than he ever did at LSU. I will say that Brick did a good job with Michael Brockers and Bennie Logan, though.

He isn't BeBe but he holds his own in recruiting, but like it's been said, the DL never seemed to develop into what they were projected to be.

Maybe Chief's scheme had something to do with the lack of pressure. I know when we played the mobile QBs, Chief would have the DL "mush rush" in order to keep the QB in the pocket.

Thanks all.

A&M has actually reeled in some good DL recruits the last few years, so I am looking forward to seeing how it develops on the field.

I don't know if Sumlin really wanted Brick or not. Coach Price now has some players to work with, so we are expecting to see improvement/ good DL play.

From 2008-2012:

Chancy Aghayere 4*
Chris Davenport 5*
Akiem Hicks 4*
Ego Ferguson 4*
Justin Maclin 4*
Jordan Allen 4*
AnthonyJohnson 5*
Jemauria Rasco 4*
Mickey Johnson 4*
Danielle Hunter 4*

All underperformed. In that time, only 4 met expectations under Brick and one greatly exceeded them.

Brockers
Logan
Mingo
Montgomery

Lavar Edwards was a 3 star that really excelled.

Not that great of a track record when you look at it.

The fact of the matter is that A&M passed. I know this for a fact, and I said as much even back when people were saying that Brick was going to follow Chavis to A&M. But I know that my fellow ranters won't let facts get in the way of their fun.

You're putting way too much effort into this for such a garbled mess of an attempted troll. You need an alter tutor or something.

And I know for a fact, that isn't true and not the way it went down.
