It means not having the Refs control the results of a game, because certain Coaches or fan bases use certain plays as an excuse for losing. I use the bull shite flag at the end of the LSU-bama game last year. You have a ref looking to throw a flag, which ended up changing the result of the game. Gus doesn't want to have to worry about calling a play were one of his OL, might be two yards down field. Anytime a game can be out of the control of the officals, is good for football.
Refs are looking to throw a flag every play.. thats their job boss. Tell the lineman to not go two yards down the field on that play and it wouldn't be a problem. If they do then it's their fault and not the refs.

Rule change or not, this would have been legal against Arkansas. No Auburn lineman was more than a yard down the field when Jeremy Johnson made the fake and throw to Melvin Ray.

There's going to be a lot of those kinds of plays this year.

So make it reviewable just like the QB throwing the ball past the line of scrimmage. Seems like an easy fix, if that's the primary concern.

First we hear whining about how fast Auburn's offense is, then we hear whining about a team being able to return a field goal for a touchdown and now we hear whining about offensive linemen being 3 yards down the field... All of them legal rules that Auburn's offense has taken advantage of and won with.
What's next?
Seriously, what's next?

maybe they'll try to change the holding rules since you can find one on nearly every play.

Maybe they will enforce the 3 yards rather than change the rule.
Which is exactly what Malzahn has been saying all along.
But
quote:
OTHER COACHES: THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH VIOLATING THE 3-YARD RULE!
Malzahn: Well, then enforce the 3-yard rule.
OTHER COACHES! NO! WE MUST CHANGE IT TO 1-YARD!
Whiny bitch defensive coaches not making a damn bit of sense AGAIN.

NCAA Scared
I disagree. If the NCAA were scared, they would have allowed the change.
Striking it down tells me they believe Gus needs all the help he can get.

No, I had it right the first time. Good attempt though.

Gus knows he'd get owned by any defense with a pulse if the rule was enforced the way it should be or if they changed the rule to 1 yard.

Who's this guy? Looks like a fatty.
Also, the play that tied the game against Alabama, we got completely fricked - with fatties all over the place further than 3 yards down field.

Couldn't tell from the shitty gif.

I don't care how great my tears taste. Kick 6 never happens if the flag(s) are thrown on the multiple linemen downfield on the TD that tied the game.
You also had a fullback blocking downfield while the pass was being thrown.

I have always wondered what bama's O's would look like if the "pick plays" were enforced by the letter of the law.

This is a good thing, imo. Enforce the rules we have for linemen and the problem really is solved but the proposed change would create penalties all the damn time - college is prone to mismatches and it's easy to go beyond 1 yard while engaging your block. 1 yard is just absurd to me when a pancake can take you past that on accident.
If someone is 4-5 yards downfield OR obviously using linemen/ineligibles to make plays then address that specifically. Believe it or not you can make rules for that; you know ones that are specific and not so broad.
Logic has no place on the rant, brah.
