UT is the new Thug U. They just took that title away from Miami.

the difference is that miami was winning big while they had all the thugs. Tennesse has managed to get all the thugs and none of the championships

To be fair, we weren't exactly nuns from the mid 90s to the early 00s.

Even if a cop is being a self righteous POS, you shut your mouth, cooperate, and go about your day. Unless he has instigated violent contact, these kids should've known better than to gang up on the person in the bar AND to beat up an officer of the law. No matter how you spin it, that cop is in the ICU and the kids arrested should seriously be sweating potential jail time

Ok...let me ask you this question and imagine you are on the jury.

The cops blood alcohol level is very high, showing that he is clearly intoxicated. So now he is a drunk, self righteous POS that is also armed. Perhaps we find out that in order to try and gain control of the situation, the cop who is drunk, wearing plain clothes now pulls out his pistol into a fight that may or may not already have a knife involved.

Guy sees pistol and knocks cop the frick out without knowing who he is. May have saved someones life by knocking the cop out.

All I am saying is that we don't know the entire story.

You wanted to be Johnny Cochran when you were younger didn't you?

This shite will never go to trial, these kids will bargain and make a deal. Probably go to jail for six months to a year (assuming the cop is ok in the end).

No one will ever take away the THUG U moniker from Miami. They are the original and will always be. If Oklahoma under Switzer didn't take the title away, no one will.

The bar owner apparently gave UT football players free admission and VIP status which will just add to the NCAA's case against UT

I completely agree we don't know the whole story, but they didn't just knock the cop out. The kicked him while he was down and put him in the ICU. If I'm a juror, I'm thinking there's self defense and there's excessive violence. Knocking him out could fall under the former, however if the current report holds up and 7 guys ganged up on one guy in a bar, whether or not the cop was entering the altercation with good or bad intentions, the 7 assailants would garner no sympathy from me

You are a moron!

From article linked earlier in thread

quote:

Bar Knoxville co-owner Sandy Morton told the Times Free Press the fight started inside but spread outside, and it ended with an off-duty police officer knocked unconscious in Cumberland Avenue. “Basically, it was a normal Thursday night — Thursday’s our big night,” Morton said. “We had all the UT football players come in. They’re on a first-name basis with my husband (and co-owner), and they get VIP status, which means they pay no cover at the door. We’ve never had a problem with them in the past, but tonight, apparently they had a falling out with another gentleman. I don’t know why. I don’t know what happened, but several of the guys started beating up the other customer. I want to guess there was seven to 10 guys beating up this one gentleman. “All the security then rushed in and were trying to break it up. My husband saw them picking up bar stools and starting to swing them. We got them out the door with security. There happened to be a friend of ours who was an off-duty police officer outside. He tried to help, and he ended up getting knocked out in the street and proceeded to be kicked while he was down on the ground in the middle of Cumberland.

UPDATE

The off-duty officer is in stable condition.

Myles and Rogers have been released on bond.

So far Myles and Rogers have been the only ones arrested for the actual fight.

I'm sure they're all 21 or older. If not, they were probably drinking Tab or V8.

SONOFA.......

Dooley's first big test. Don't care who they were if half the rumors on this thread are true Dooley has some house cleaning to do. I can handle the down periods all teams have them, but I do not want to be ashamed of the team during those down periods. I reserve judgment until the facts are out, but it doesn't look good.
