I will have to say that there are some legit complaints about Jones. Mostly in his handling of the whole thing. No tact at all. To be honest when he said stop chanting to a bunch of 18-20+ year olds what did he expect to happen?

There are going to be those for it and against it in situations like this. And I respect others opinions on the matter. And I won't call them idiots or "fans that don't care" because they don't see it my way.

I've got to say that you are THE most level-headed person that has completely opposite beliefs than me on this particular subject. I gotta give you credit for that and am not referring to you in this thread.

I'm referring to this complete idiot LSU fan because of his complete lack of logical thinking and blanket statements.

His statement of "stand up and fight what you believe in" is what I'm talking about.

....that.....and I think the whole use of the phrase "Political correctness" is just a crutch to make your(not you personally) argument sound better. Just admit to what it really is...........a conflicting belief that pisses you off because you're selfish.

I agree. He handled it poorly. But he only deserves part of the blame for that. He's a puppet who is doing what he's told to do.

Chanting the motto/slogan of the klan really doesn't help you when you're trying to show a very progressive image of the school.

I thought the slogan was: "Not for self, But for others"

btw...if you look at the population trends across the country, it may indicate that the south is rising again(at least in numbers)but do not tell anyone because people may be forced to move back north.

I know it is......and I don't think that the majority of the people who were chanting that at the games meant it as racist in nature. I understand the economic viewpoint of it.

If it weren't for the fact that it is a Klan saying, it would have never been an issue......i don't think.

I really didn't think anything of it when I got here. Everyone did it and it was always fun after a win. It was incredible after the Texas Tech game to hear half the stadium singing along and cheering. Probably one of the best weekends to be an Ole Miss fan I've ever been part of.

Long story short. Didn't see anything wrong with it till those hood wearing Auburn fans showed up.

Those pics really portray what the Ole Miss fan base is really like. A guy has to be ghey for dressing up to attend a football game and drinking from a cup with their pinky out. Pank Reb probably belongs to a ghey frat house at Ole Miss. Yeah, I stand up for what I believe in but you pussies just folded under the pressure. I don't see LSU bowing down to PETA. You're the idiot Pank.

I am from Mississippi...I am not an Ole Miss fan, I am a Tiger fan (for an important reason)and an USM alumnus. However, I have many friends that are graduates of Ole Miss. My problem with the songs, the mascot and everything else is ...When do you draw the line. I noticed in the Media that the players (black and white did not object to Colonel Reb) but Robert Khayat and Pete Boone(correct me if I am wrong)were on a mission to ram that bear down your throat ... what if the tiger, bulldog, gator or hog suddenly became politically incorrect. Would we all fold? Sorry for the rant

That is true. There were more against it than for it....but the PR Ole Miss put out about it made it look like everyone was for the change. Hell....James Meredith was against the change....but Ole Miss failed to put that out there for everyone to read.
