With "Bo vs Herschel" being of the threads of the day, somebody put this cool montage together of Bo and Herschel, with Marcus Dupree as well. I forget how great Marcus Dupree was.

Bo, Herschel, Marcus Dupree.

Guys just don't run like this anymore

Those guys were great, probably top three all time best SEC RB's, after Darren McFadden.

Imagine if all three were in your backfield.

I actually agree with you on McFadden.

Is there anything as iconic as Herschel going over the top at the goal line?

I said that mostly to get a rise out of Bo/Herschel defenders, but I actually do think one could easily make the case for McFadden. It is impossible to compare players from different eras as so many things change, but I just think the pedestal these two have been placed on is a little unrealistic. I think the legends of both players has grown over the years and benefited from the lack of 24/7 news coverage back then, so we have this mythical image of both. And lest I be scolded for being some kind of a Bama homer, Bo Jackson is one of my favorite players from the state ever. And from a pure athletic standpoint, he will likely never be touched. I'm talking strictly college football prowess.

Part of it is that defenders then weren't what they are now. They would obviously be effective now, but it wouldn't look the same.

Sorry buddy, this conversation is about Herschel and Bo. As a Dawg fan I'm clearly not an Auburn fan but these 2 are the only debatable options.

No other running back can enter the discussion of Bo v. Herschel. It's just not happening.

I was kind of hijacking the thread. I was saying that McFadden, Bo, and Herschel were the three best.

Those guys were ok. But, they were no Derrick Henry.
