It would be nice if you can (hopefully not against us although we're used to the noise it's still a young team). I just wish we were back to the noise level of the 90s. Hell, the night BOTH goalposts came down in 98 after beating Florida in OT the cameras were shaking (well before the very end when victory was assured). ESPN couldn't remove their cameras quickly enough -- very expensive ones and were pissed. It was also what one announcer called the "largest U-turn ever to happen Knoxville" (or something to that effect) due to some fans thinking it was over before we forced OT (some had started to trickle out). Even after, while the crowd was celebrating ESPN cams not taken out were shaking.

I was in Neyland for the Oregon game a few years ago.
There was a couple of times. pre lightening delay, were we got pretty loud, but it's still a B compared to the mid/late 90s.
I'll be at the game on Saturday, I'll let you know what they can bring.
I'm excited about the fan base. They had great fans that traveled to Knoxville last time. Hopefully their home fans are equally as nice.

I hear you there and am jealous of your trip. BTW, they have a river too, although I don't know how deep it is. I heard from one Duck's fan that he often fly-fishes to pass the time there prior kick off and to assure he can park.
Home crowds, especially those with newly minted bandwagon fans are hard to judge. I've had a great experience with almost all SEC fanbases that I've encountered though there have certainly been drunken angry exceptions for all of them.
I'll also never forget the snobs I sat beside in reserved seats at Neyland back in the mid-90s but when a woman shows up in a mink coat and expensive jewelry meant to be seen rather than for personal taste and isn't wearing in identifiable fan gear and her husband is also dressed to the nines it's hard to judge. However, I've met many who've attended VU who really are great peeps. As long as you're not an a-hole opposing fans often reciprocate but that may be a southern thang. UF may be the exception but I've met plenty online and a handful in person who were nice as could be so who knows, perhaps they just have such a bad minority at home that they're unfairly stereotyped.

Oregonians are typically nice and hospitable. I might encounter some obnoxious drunks but you should be treated well.

This is really 99 percent of what I've experienced. Y'all seem to be a mirror of us in the hospitality department. So much so that it's become very difficult for many of us to see you as an enemy even for this game. I suppose maybe a frenemy for it but more friend/root for the ducks when we're not playing than anything else. There's always gonna be obnoxious people and online trolls who get a thrill out of trolling but Oregon fans have went out of their way since day one, all the way up until the present, to be nice and polite even online which says a great deal. I can think of only a handful who haven't but an overwhelming majority who have went out of their way.

If you encounter an obnoxious fan, they are likely a transplant from California. Back in the day, you could expect traffic to stop for pedestrians and people always opened doors for you. If you come across someone that is impolite, just assume they are Californian.

I'll just assume they're former USC fans.
Seriously though, the other half spent a great deal of time out there and said they were unnerved by the friendly nature and questions southerners tend to ask. They considered the friendly 'get to know you questions' and extraneous small talk to be rude or at least off-putting.
We still open doors and I've had more than one occasion where a random stranger who either offered me help or just started helping when I had car trouble, even in Knoxville. Two of them, ran from across the street to push the car to a store while I piloted and before I could get out of the car and thank them they were gone. Outside the city, we wave to each other in cars (even if we don't know them
). We have a few grumpy places but it's not the norm at all. But I have lots of respect for Oregon fans -- good peeps.

Good thoughts in this thread.
Here is how I see it, the Vols have to run the ball and be very efficient in the short and mid range passing game. We have to move the chains and control the ball as much as possible.
We have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity we get and hope to somehow force Oregon into some mistakes on offense.
I think we keep it relatively close till sometime in the 2nd half where we have a bust or some miss tackles resulting in a really long TD, then the floodgate opens.

Your mascot, cheerleaders, and the cool fans we chilled with in 2011 made me cheer for the Ducks as much as I could. Y'all haven't given me any reason to hate you so I wish you good luck this weekend. I just hope we can keep it competitive.

tn can keep it decent if they control time of posession, we have the line and run game to do that IF we can we keep it reasonable. We also have the d-line to get a push in the backfield and disrupt the read option.. if we can do both, we keep it closer than it should be.
BUT
we have a horrendous secondary and qb play, if oregon wants they can hit us deep anytime, and if they do and we get behind big early and have to get away from the run and rely on worley then well...
With all that said im not sweating the oregon game, the only thing i want to see is us play hard, not give up, learn from what we see, grow up a little bit, and improve for the following 5 weeks
