It is very rare to find a coach who doesn't want to be a HC. What is he making at LSU? 100k? He'll get 5x that at Bama.
I don't pretend to know what he desires in his heart. All I can do is look at his resume. With his accomplishments if he wanted to be a head coach he certainly could have done so by now. I think he makes much more than 100k.

He would probably take it if offered, I just don't think he gets offered. He's a tradesman, has never been anything other than a pitching coach. He could make a shite-ton doing that in the majors, and if he wanted to get on the HC track he could have probably done it by now at a smaller school.

If you guys get Dunn, that will make three coaches in a row that have an LSU connection. You know a good program when you see one.
Yep, pretty much. LSU is the gold standard of college baseball. I don't think anyone has a problem admitting that.
Plus that whole he went to Alabama thing.

You can't deny that LSU has an excellent athletic department across the board.

Juju
This is a good point. But of he's been fighting with head guy, you gotta figure a move is in the cards. HC job at alma mater making much more money. Enticing.
But now that I rethink things, prolly we go after a proven guy. Think we're ready to throw a gob at somebody with a name.

I don't know for certain but if I had to guess Dunn probably makes 250k or so at LSU

Dan McDonnell just signed a 10 year, $10 million extension with Louisville.
Alabama is going to have to open up the check book if they want someone with a similar resume.

Won't be even slightly surprised if he takes a job in the majors. Then again, that could just be their working relationship. He's been on staff for years.

Of course it's enticing. He would be dumb not to take it if offered. I would just be shocked if he's offered. That would mean his first HC job ever was at an SEC school who just built a new stadium and is presumably trying to get their program to a championship level.

Just because it's paid doesn't mean the ROI will warrant it. See atm and Sumlin.
