Context clues baw. "Two national titles and three SEC titles" seems to clearly indicate I was talking about the 2000s. That's OK though. Enjoy your 2 for $20 dinner with your sister.

I would say the Big 7 are the top 7 on that list. Texas starts what I would call the 2nd Tier of college football programs. The 2nd Tier consists of Texas through Florida. What Florida has done since the Spurrier era puts them in the second tier for sure.

Looks about right. One thing I always use to judge all-time rankings is where Arkansas ranked in the '60's. That's something that shouldn't change much, but it had in recent years. Historically, Arkansas was always considered a top-5 team for that decade, but some historical rankings don't even have us in the top-10 nowadays, which is a joke. We had the 3rd best record for the decade, and were tied with Texas for 2nd, until the GOTC in '69. Here it is for the '60's:

RANK TEAM POINTS
1 Alabama 138
T2 Arkansas 118
T2 Texas 118
4 Ohio State 106
5 Notre Dame 105
6 USC 102
7 LSU 101
8 Penn State 99
9 Missouri 93
10 UCLA 91
11 Mississippi 86

It's also worth noting that just as LSU has risen since Saban, Arkansas has fallen since the bottom fell out in 1990, two years before joining the SEC. Before then, we were equal to Georgia and well ahead of Auburn, who has also risen in that time.

You should probably specify since the link directly links the all-time rankings. However, I'm not surprised an LSU fan doesn't know how to accurately convey a point via words. Cajun utterances come more naturally to you.

Actually, less than 8% of the 4.5 million inhabitants of Louisiana are of French-Acadian ancestry. However, I'm not surprised than an Arkansas fan doesn't know how to accurately convey a demographic random sampling. Oinking comes more naturally to you.

BTW, LSU was #12 in number of all-time NCAA victories, and #10 in all-time bowl appearances.....""B E F O R E ""
the year 2000.

Also, in the 31 year period from 1958 to 1988, LSU:
* Won a consensus national championship
* Won 2 other national titles from other polls, publications, indeces, & computer rankings ('61,'62)
* Went to 22 bowl games,
* Had 27 winning seasons.
* Had 5 SEC Titles
* Finished in the nation's Top Ten 8 times

And Arkansas from 1958-88 ???????????????

Speaking of the link showing this web site's opinion of the Top programs of 2000-2015, here is what you so cordially asked for:
LINK

This is so much bullshite.

Ohio State, Oklahoma, and LSU are the top three programs since 2000. And LSU, on top of its 3 NC appearances and 2 NCs, has had a winning season and gone to a bowl game EVERY YEAR since 2000.
Who else can say that? Oklahoma? Ohio State?
Boise St?
Not Florida. Not USC. Not Texas............

The bowl game argument isn't a worthy one, because in the past, bowls often invited SEC teams, simply because they were nearby and willing.

Yea, all we did was have a 22-game winstreak, finish with the best record for 2 consecutive seasons and play for a national title in '69. Disregard our '64 title if you want, but you can't take that away.

quote:

* Won 2 other national titles from other polls, publications, indeces, & computer rankings ('61,'62)

We did the same for '64 and '77. The '64 title is recognized by the NCAA, but unlike some, we don't count the '77 title, as no one should.

quote:

* Went to 22 bowl games,

We went to 21 bowl games in that period, but see above.

quote:

* Had 27 winning seasons.

We had 26.

quote:

* Had 5 SEC Titles

We had 9 SWC titles and the SWC had a better record against SEC teams then the Big Ten, Pac-8, Big 8 or the ACC did.

quote:

* Finished in the nation's Top Ten 8 times

We did it 12 times.

In the 30 years prior to joining the SEC, we also finished with 10 wins, 9 times, compared to 1 for LSU. Many, if not most, of those came at a time when only 11 games were played, so it meant something.

Arkansas leads the league in giving championships to other schools too. Big 1. 1964 they yielded to Alabama, 1998 they fumbled to asssit UT to get a title, 2006 Reginald Fish again fumbled to give Florida a title. Pretty crazy how Arkansas has been at ground zero of some of the biggest issues in college football.

Sadly, this is true. Here are some other examples:

In '65, we finished the season on a 22 game win streak, but were only ranked #1 for one week. Then we lost to LSU in the Cotton Bowl and 9-1-1 Alabama jumped three 10-1 teams, including Arkansas.

In 1974, we beat USC-W, but they went on to finish #1 in the UPI, just like LSU finished #1 after we beat them in 2007. It's like the national title runs through Arkansas, which may explain why the SEC improved so much after we joined. We've played a lot of teams that finished #1 and many were before we joined the SEC.

On the issues, we were the only team to finish undefeated after the bowl games in '64, which finally prompted the AP to have a final vote after the bowls. On national television in '82, we tied the Pony Express of SMU, after a bogus pass interference call allowed SMU to kick a FG for the tie. After the season, the NCAA changed the rule so that PI calls were only a 15 yard penalty, to keep that stuff from happening again (before then they moved the ball to where the penalty occurred).

I know I'm forgetting many others, but those are the ones that come to mind. I'm positive that there's another rule change I'm forgetting about.
