When the series was started with Illinois, they were the defending Big 10 Champions. Arizona State was supposed to have been a Top 25 team. But don't worry, we'll clean up this year with that Syracuse team who kicked your arse last year.

so Mizzou's excuse is since we were in the big12 we couldn't play big time ooc frick that noise we got bama in 2014

Looks more and more like 4 conf champs... This just marginalizes the other bowls even more.
The thought of potentially having more than 2 teams is never going to happen and more than likely having 2 will be pretty far fetched.
The important part in all of this is the structure, not the teams or the games.. Owning the bowl and essentially saying the loser of the conf title games (or maybe top BCS team leftover from each conf) pretty much guarantees a high end matchup that will own the media slot that day. Then add in the cutting out of the middle man and the payout per school will be huge.. It effectively guarantees 1 to 3 M per school for everyone in the Big 12 and SEC. That is big thing in this.
This deal is like giving each school a new state of the art outdoor practice facility or weight room every 5 years just because the clout of the two conferences.

WVU will be changing their scheduling strategy after finding out the Big 12 is far different than the Big East.
