That and he took 2/3 from Cohen.

That and the fact that he's missed the NCAAT just twice in 13 years at Ole Miss. Cohen has already matched that in 5 years at State. Fact is, Cohen's team got hot at the right time last year and his team made a deep run after a fairly decent season. Now state fans thinking he's the second coming. It's alright, barring a miracle, they won't make it out if a regional this year, and if they don't get their act straight, they may miss the post season entirely.

[quote]Yeah - that sums up the total bodies of work over 40 years combined of coaching. Maybe it's just the evening crowd on here where you can actually talk to baseball people. It certainly isn't here in the day time.

Literally the only thing Cohen has on Bianco is a single trip to omaha. If you take the entire bodies of work as head coaches, Bianco is ahead by a considerable amount. It's not even debateable.

Nope. Can't use past accomplishments. Live in the now. These are the rules.

You can get into the game without being obnoxious.

Its not as black and white as you're trying to make it

I have no idea who is the better of the two. Don't care. But if Bianco is so superior to Cohen, why did a significant portion of the Ole Miss fans want him fired after this year if he did what he has done over the past couple of years? You don't fire the best coach ever - even if you are Ole Miss.

ETA - I can't tell you how many Ole Miss fans told me this. I would say - "y'all would be nuts to get rid of Bianco". They would almost always respond - "of course you would say that. You are a State fan".

because Ole Miss fans are unreasonable. This shouldn't be news. I understand some of their frustrations but Bianco built that program from nothing.

recently, yes. And MSU had the right to get rid of him.

This is what happens when you have a coach for more than a decade. It's time for a person to take the next step or step out the door. I'm not on the Fire Bianco-wagon but I've said this year is where we need to get back to hosting regionals instead of being a 3 seed.

I said the same thing about AK two seasons ago before he made the tourny.

It happens to everyone. If Freeze wins 7 this year, a lot of people will be pissed off at him.

The difference is this is year 3. If he wins 7 games a year for the next decade...then it'll be more appropriate for this thread.

Not crying, just making an observation. Relax.

Wasn't necessarily a "coaching ability" observation. More of an attitude/persona thing

You can't really compare expectations for the sports though. In general you get a much longer leash for baseball and basketball than you do football in the SEC. With Kennedy you guys don't really care as long as he doesn't completely fall off. With Freeze if he misses one postseason, he could potentially be gone.

I seriously got frustrated with Bianco last year because he made a new hitting coach hire and we were one of the worst hitting teams in the nation and our pitching was pretty shitty outside of Wahl (and he had even regressed).

I by no means wanted the man fired though. I did think he had lost some of his edge and passion for the game because he wasn't making any adjustments to make the team better. This year he had a clean slate and it looks like he started coaching like his old self. Pitching staff has been great and hitting is finally back to mid-late 2000's form.

We were supposed to be terrible this year and Bianco was going to be gone but the man got a fire lit up under his arse and has delivered. I'm glad because I don't want him gone. If he can get over the hump just one time and get to Omaha, we'll start going there pretty often IMO
