Why do you think Vick flamed out so quickly? I think the pounding on his body in the NFL took it's toll.

Exactly that. Michael Vick was RGIII before Robert Griffin was even out of school. His career just lasted a little longer than I think RGIII's is going to last.

The rules in the college game are tilted to the offense so much. I think that until they change you won't be able to truly stop it. Unless you have just a lesser talented team in general, or your QB throws the ball backwards.

Was that a shot at JJ?

I thought the same about Auburn's offense. last year I kept waiting for Auburn's big comeback against us. Once enough teams run any offense defensive coordinators begin to scheme how to stop it...and they usually do.

You DID make a very good point about rules being slanted toward the offense, though. The targeting rules etc....it will definitely slow down any progress at stopping the spread.

Not at all. I'd say it like this. Let's say Stafford and Newton were completely equal in their running and passing ability. As they are now Newton is going to be at a (huge) disadvantage stats wise and probably production wise because he's got inferior weapons at his disposal.

I'm not saying it makes Stafford shitty, I actually like him a lot to be honest, I just think there's definitely some fine print on stats that has nothing to do with the QBs themselves and everything to do with the people around them.

I agree! Stafford definitely has an advantage with Johnson.

If i had to compare Cam and Stafford, I would say Stafford has a better arm and is more accurate. Cam has the threat to run and his arm is still very good. Stafford has problems with his mechanics and tries to force the ball downfield. Cam doesn't force the ball as much. He would rather pull it down and run. BUT, something that surprised me....Cam throws more interceptions than I would have thought. THAT caught me off guard.

I agree with your assessment 100%

It has lasted longer, but Vick hasn't been a very good QB for 4 or 5 years. RGIII just hasn't been the same since he kept playing after his injury.

Neither of the above...nor any in the SEC for that matter. As of today, if I'm a blue chip HS QB that wants to be groomed for the NFL, think I'd be lookin' more at the PAC-12 or Big 10. With the exception of the Mannings, the most successful NFL QBs from the SEC played a long time ago...maybe Newton and/or Stafford might add to that depending on how they (and their teams) do in the next few years...

It's also simple. They don't run it in high school because it's a better offense. They run it because it's easier to teach and you can get more out of it with less talented players.

This board way overrates Cam as a pro QB. He's a top-5 athlete in the league but maybe not even a top-20 passer. Not sure if his career completion percentage will ever get over 60%.
