The SEC seems a bit down overall this year.

I think it's safe to say this!

Seriously, we all think this. It would be better to wait and see, though. Alabama, Auburn and Georgia all could prove to be very, very good teams.....or pretenders.

And I agree with saying Auburn's loss was not nearly as bad as many seem to think.

I did no such thing!

It was a joke based on prior threads asking what the best win was. The "for no reason" isn't to downplay ND, but more of a "who cares, you're the better team regardless which one was the better win"

I said in my third post ITT that ND is the better win, and I've said it before. I know plenty of us will be paying close attention to when they play each other.

I do hope NC State beats Clemson though. I feel they have the best chance out of anyone left on their schedule. Including us.

Actually, I am one that agrees we have not played a really good team yet. I do believe ND will end up with 10 wins after their bowl game, though. But really, who have we played other than them? We have to pump them up or admit we might not be as as good as we hope we are!

Actually, I think your win over NC State was a very good win, if not the best.

I'm with you, man! Gotta put Clemson back in the box!

Name one other good team in the ACC

ND? UGA beat them
FSU? Bama beat them
NC State? South Carolina beat them

So... Miami I guess?

Tough conference you got there.

I’m not the one bragging about our shitty conference. That would be you.

I said Clemson has as many Top 25 wins as your entire conference. That’s not debatable, so I don’t see why everyone is crying. The SEC will sort itself out, like it has been doing, and Alabama will be the one really good team. Next year the SEC should be the hands down best conference. Some good things happening.

Both conferences are pretty crappy with a couple of tough teams and a bunch of USCe’s and Syracuses.

Bama over FSU

Let's see how AU looks if they lose Stidham and have to play a FR at QB. FSU today is not the same as FSU week one with their starter at QB.

Dude. You are on a SEC message board! Why are you here, if not to brag on yourself?

Yes it is.

Georgia has 2, Alabama has 1 and Florida has 1, and i stopped looking after that. So you are wrong, and your statement is debatable.

ETA
BTW, Auburn also has one. Where did you get that bit of wisdom?

The ol “they were really good when we played them” bit. Two of them are still ranked.

Clemson isn’t a conference, by the way. I know how the bottom feeders of the SEC have to tout conference pride, but I’d expect more from a Georgia fan.

This board in general has been pretty adamant that the SEC stinks this year beyond the Top 3 teams.

No one will ever know how good Florida St could have been this year.

If DF doesn't get hurt, they are probably a top ten team right now.

Generally speaking there are 2 accepted methods of counting "wins over ranked opponents"... either a) Ranked at the time of the game or b) Ranked at the end of the season. Rankings in October mean little more than rankings at the time of the game played... It's reactionary at best. If you had played FSU in game one instead of Alabama, and then the same events unfolded, would you say that was not a quality win, given that you played them with Francois at QB for most of the game?

Don't be obtuse about it. The current state of CFB conferences in general is that most conferences are pretty top heavy. The curious thing is the floor hasn't gotten that much worse, but rather the middle has dropped down significantly it would seem in most conferences.

Only because of their schedule could they hide their deficiencies. They have much bigger problems than just the QB.

So, in order to [prove Clemson is good and the SEC is bad you are going to claim a win over a SEC team. Then to top it off, you said at the end of the season the only good team would be Alabama?

Yes, i will claim the rankings at the time the games were played, because at the end of the season the teams you beat might not be ranked. If you are going to go by rankings DURING the year, then you go by rankings at the time. If not, then we can wait until the end of the year and see how you stack up with your opponents. I mean, the main reason Mississippi State is not ranked right now is because they were beaten by the #4 and #10 team in the country.

I wasn't saying Clemson was a conference, and I would have expected more from a Cle....no, actually I do not.

And we actually aren't sure about Georgia or Auburn.
We think AU and UGA are pretty good, but only time will tell.

The fact you can't name one for Auburn should be troubling to you. I think Auburn is a very good team due to defense alone. Their offense is much improved but I am curious to see how Stidham responds when you finally face a defense that can slow the run game down or stop it. Georgia and Alabama are the only two that can likely. Stidham success in the passing game is in large part due to pA pass. What happens when teams don't have to respect the run game with their secondary and the front 7 is enough.

That means they shouldn’t be ranked, then. And they aren’t. The same can be said for FSU, WVU, UL, Utah, etc.
Losing to good teams doesn’t mean you’re good too.
