A&M fans,
Take the western Arkansas route instead of the Oklahoma route.
Hwy 71 to Joplin, MO and then take I-44 East to Springfield, MO. That is basically interstate the whole way, save for a short distance around Bella Vista.
Not only is it faster, but it's super scenic as well.

in case you're wondering, this thread is in reference to your upcoming road trip to Columbia, MO for the last game of the season against Mizzou.

Google tells me to avoid Arkansas altogether. It's generally a good plan so who am I to argue

Best way to get to Springfield is to fly into KCI and drive 2 hours east.

Texarkana is the way I'd go. You may reach Missouri about an hour slower, but you won't spend $15 on the Oklahoma turnpike.
I drove to Houston last year to pick up a racing canoe. I took the Oklahoma route down to Texas and then took the Arkansas route back to Missouri.
I arrived in Missouri an hour later but also spent an hour in Fort Smith, AR trying to figure out how to get out of the sprawl of that city.
Ultimately, it was a wash...equal time. Except, Arkansas is far more scenic while north Texas and Oklahoma is a snore.

But seriously, if I was planning on going to the game in Columbia I would be flying into StL or KC. Driving from Texas to Missouri, ain't nobody got time fo dat

I would have said this myself for most of my life, but after traveling through West Arkansas, I'm a believer. West and Northwest Arkansas is just beautiful. But Southest Arkansas is shitty beyond words.

This man speaks the hard truth.
Don't forget that north Texas and pretty much all of Oklahoma is nothingness. If you're going to drive, why not take the scenic route...especially if you will arrive to Missouri in the same time?

True....but for those who drive it is very scenic especially if you hit it at the height of the color change.

Arkansas fans wouldn't argue with that. If they had it their way, they'd give eastern Arkansas back to Tennessee and simply keep the Boston Mountains.
