Bama in no way should have a spot over Arkansas in baseball either. Bama has 5 CWS appearances ever and haven't been since 1999. Arkansas has gone 8 times and 3 times in the past 7 years. Arkansas also has more total tournament appearances.

Yeah I have no idea where the disrespect the hogs get in baseball on this board comes from. I've seen it in other threads to.

One.

One condition premised my conclusion.

Considering the state of the respective programs, it's not that far off.

Currently, I'd rank the football programs as follows:

1) Alabama
2) Tennessee
3) LSU
4) Georgia
5) Florida
6) Auburn
7) Arkansas
8) Texas A&M
9) Ole Miss
10) Missouri
11) South Carolina
12a) Kentucky
12b) Mississippi State
14) Vanderbilt

Legit arguments exist as to who is second, third, and fourth. Similarly, Auburn and Florida can both make rational arguments for why they're the fifth best program. Florida is closer to the fourth spot than Auburn, hence their ranking over Auburn.

If you disagree with this ranking, you're not considering the whole history of SEC football objectively.

I almost went MSU over Bama, but it's best all time, not best since 1990.

In addition to SEC tourney title edge, UA has 20 NCAA tournament appearances and 8 Sweet Sixteens compared to 10 NCAAs and 3 Sweet Sixteens for MSU.

Wimp Sanderson was a Sweet 16 machine ... also a woman beater, so there's that.

No issues with that.

aTm could fit there as well. One of the best all time win % among SEC schools; conference titles in the SWC, Big 12, and SEC; and 5 CWS appearances

I can't argue with that list. Oh I might swap a team here or there but it seems accurate.

It goes to show how fortune can change in football though. Compile that list in the 70's and Arkansas is probably sitting on the 3 or 4 spot based on the run they had through the 60's and 70's. Missouri would probably be where Arkansas is now since they had some great years in that time period while A&M would probably be in double digits.

Since then Arkansas has declined in football after leaving the SWC and losing access to the Texas recruits, Missouri had a dismal stretch before Pinkel showed up, and A&M has been a very solid program overall.

Ole Miss is a hard one to rank though. For decades they were 3rd or 4th best time in the SEC but the modern era of football hasn't been as kind to the Rebel Bears. You have to acknowledge what they did when they were a legitimate national power back in the day but they have fallen off the pace quite a bit over the last few decades.

Gottfired took us to the Elite 8 as well. Pretty sure we're still #2 to UK in SEC B-Ball wins.

Bama has been a very solid basketball program in the SEC but I think if Missouri and Arkansas had been in the league longer they would bump the Tide to the 4 or 5 spot.

Missouri has been horrible under KA but much like Arkansas they have been a very good program for decades.

Florida is obviously the rising power in basketball for the SEC but with the right coach and recruiting Bama, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri and USC could all put together very dangerous teams that could go deep in the NCAAT.

Kind of agree here. Arkansas has had a really solid baseball program that doesn't get respect here. Also were title runner-ups in '79 too.

The SEC is really strong in baseball. Just hope Goff can turn this garbage that Gaspard left around.

So UGA has more trips to the CWS than Bama and you have them over UGA. Strange.

Edit: and UGA has a natty in baseball. Keep down voting gumps

There are other conference titles, unlike football those conference titles mean MORE than SEC titles too.

Do you mean tournament titles? I don't think they are worth all that much. And yes that also means for LSU's baseball tournament titles. They were nice, but regular season titles, and Final Fours mean more to me.

Well for the small conferences, the tournament is important, but not not in the SEC, or other power conference.

If Tennessee continues to flounder for another decade, and LSU can continue being an above-average program, LSU will catch them.

That's a very valid point, but I was thinking this means right now. Right now, I would say Tennessee has a slight edge. I have to admit, though, that it is much closer than I had thought.

Initially I thought Alabama and Tennessee were clear cut favorites for #1 and #2. I was wrong. There is argument for LSU, for sure.

Agreed definitely LSU above Tennessee. Also. How is LSU basketball ranked above quite a few other programs? I know we had that one final four, but we've never really been a power.

And you would "definitely" be delusional.

-Tennessee owns LSU in the all time series. (It's not even close)

Tennessee has more of the following than LSU:

-More All time wins
-More All time conference championships
-Better all time winning %
-More All time bowl game appearances
-More All time bowl game wins
-More All time consensus All Americans
-More All time draft picks
-More All time 1st round draft picks

Maybe if Tennessee has another 10 year period with Dooley level results would you pass us, but you sure as hell haven't as of right now and the massive amount of down votes your getting would suggest that you're higher than giraffe pussy
