You should be banned for not including Ole Miss.

We have a stout defensive line but our LB depth is going to take a hit by losing three productive seniors (Shackleford, Byrd, Lewis).
I think Alabama probably has the best front seven in the conference. Their defensive line is one of the best three in the SEC and they have a lot of LB depth.

Are Ole Miss fans not aware that the front seven includes linebacker play? I think y'all probably have a slightly better D Line than Bama, but linebacker play isn't even close. Outside of Denzel (who hasnt performed well since his FR season) there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of reason for optimism at that position.
Bama's the clear #1 in my eyes, and Mizzou is 2nd because of their LB talent and the fact that they've had so much production on the DL recently. If Brantley recovers ok, they should be in pretty good shape there. Auburn's probably 3rd.

How is the UGA defense supposed to be this fall, overall? Curious minds here in the West.

Bama or Georgia. LSU could make it close, especially if Valentine makes it onto the field. Linebacker play should be greatly improved with Steele replacing Chavis. Defensive ends should be significantly upgraded as well. We'll see.
OM will have a solid D-line, but I don't know much about their backers other than that they were probably the easiest SEC team to run against last year outside of A&M And Kentucky.

Good thread, BTW.
You've at least gotten the process of redemption off to a good start.

You ain't kiddin.
I remember watching that long TD drive in Tiger Stadium last fall just begging for a stop on first or second down. Nope. Four yards, seven yards, five yards, six yards, etc.

You had to have figured than eventually we'd get in the end zone. We'd been moving the ball all game, just not converting.
Seriously though, that drive was probably the high-water mark for our season.

I'm gonna go Bama, but Georgia's group will make more highlight plays.
Spinoff, but in the future (next 1-2 seasons after this one) I think Auburn and LSU will have the best.

You kind of ruined my Ole Miss fans not knowing what the front seven was thing with your post while I was typing
I expect us to be greatly improved on the DL, but that's still not saying a whole lot. If Thompson, and a couple freshman DEs can contribute right away that would be massive for us. IMO, we'll have the best outside linebackers in the league with Carter, Floyd, and Jenkins. ILB is a question mark at this point. We've got a UAB transfer along with a couple guys who have been great kickoff coverage players (and got some playing time at the position last year) competing for the starting job. Secondary should be improved as we kept almost all of our players who contributed. I would like to believe we'll improve in year 2 under Pruitt. More than anything we just need more consistency (probably comes with more depth). We looked like the best defense in the league at points, and then one of the worst at other times.

Never said we had the best front 7 because we don't at this point, but it's insane not to include us. CJ Johnson is moving back to LB, his true position because of our DL depth. That makes our starting LBs Denzel and CJ, that's a really good combo to go with our DL. Also, if we're talking front 7, you'd have to include Tony Conner for us since we run a 4-2-5.
Haynes
Nkemdiche
Gross/Jones
Brown/Ward
Johnson
Nkemdiche
Conner
That's pretty damn good. Definitely deserving of inclusion, which was the point of my post.

I haven't seen enough of Hand and Reed at the college level yet to put y'all as my top DL. I wouldn't be shocked at all if that changed a game or two into this season.

For your offense, probably.
