Who do you have at #1?
Saban.
Bear was coach in a completely different era of college football. There were nowhere near as many regulations about what one could do back then compared to today and the SEC and football in general was not as competitive as it is today. I will give credit where it's due. He was the first coach to make football a science with more focus on strength and conditioning than just lining up the biggest dudes you can find on the line and letting another big dude just run the ball. That being said, I don't think he would be nearly as successful if he were coaching in today's SEC.

We will go multiple pages on this, but a coach that is great in one era might suck diseased moose wang in another.
In, say, the 50's, Saban might be a bottom feeder instead of one of the best coaches of all time.
Bryant was adaptable until his last years but if he coached today we might be comparing him to Les Miles.
You are great when you are great. Football changes too much to apply the standards of one generation to another.
