It's what college football is all about.

Some of our fans try to play it off. It was a huge game and a huge win. No doubt about it.
Was a awesome night

Nice!
I asked because usually it looks like the middle of the field gets PACKED and then people are just stuck there

Best:
In 1975 Missouri played a Bear Bryant Alabama team that had won 22 straight regular season games (and would go on to win 11 straight games after this) They finished that year 11-1 and won the MNC I believe. We won 20 - 7 and 5 thousand students ran across stadium and tore down the goalposts. Why did they run across the street? Because the game was in Alabama. So we stormed the field and tore down the goal posts ON A DAY WHEN THERE WAS NO GAME BEING PLAYED IN OUR STADIUM.
Was awesome.
Oklahoma was also good. They had owned us, were #1, game day was there, and we killed them.
Worst: 2014 Arkansas to win the east. Was just the east. For the second time. And our team wasn't even that great. Act like you've been there before

Best: EVERY field storming. There are no bad field stormings....

Last time we stormed the field was 1998 against UF. Good day, imo.
Understatement. As early as it was we knew the SEC and likely the national championship were ours. Parading the goalposts up and down Cumberland for hours until finally a Volunteer Fire Dept. offered to cut them up for fans was epic.
I can't remember any other time. That game was special for many reasons and so when I see fans start "threads along the lines of will we/should we storm the field if we we win" I just kinda shake my head. Stuff like that has to be spontaneous to be meaningful imo and it needs to be more than just 'we haven't beat so and so since x' -- something important should be on the line).
If you have to start a thread on asking the question ( to storm or not to storm) you just don't get it imo. Storming should be rare and reserved for underdog type wins. I'm all for fun but half the fun is that this should be exceptionally rare, memorable, and appropriate to the caliber of team you're playing.
Not that anyone listens to me but those are my .02 cents.

I remember being at Neyland two years ago when Mizzou beat Tennessee.
Tennessee did not storm the field that night. Rather, Tennessee fans walked out of the stadium in silence as several thousand Mizzou fans along with Pinkel, the team, and the cheerleaders chanted, "MIZ...ZOU. MIZ...ZOU! MIZ...ZOU!"
It was glorious!

Mmmkay. That's a bit of a shoehorn even for you. FWIW, UT fans will likely** never storm the field following a win against Mizzou. I say likely** because barring some serious work by a Spurrier and Fulmer clone to create a rivalry out of scratch it just isn't there.
That said, we probably should've made an exception and stormed the field when Mizzou beat us in 4 OTs since Dooley gave his resignation that game by not trying to score with a very good offense with time and within distance and instead inexplicably sent it to OT. Hell we should've carried Pinkel and company off on our shoulders for that one.

Alabama and Florida are the only two teams to never storm their own field
I guess when you've been that successful, there's no reason to

No. Bama won the SEC championship but not the national championship in 1975.

quote:Should mention that before 1999, Bama played very few big games on campus. UT, LSU and AU home games, as well as home games against major OOC opponents, were all in Birmingham.
Alabama - Never in Bryant-Denny
And you know damn well they would have stormed the field in the 2004 and 2010 Iron Bowls, had they been given the opportunity.

I don't think I've ever heard of Bama fans storming the field. It may have happened, but I've never heard of it.
Bama has grown men running across the field for autographs at fan day. 1,000,000 times worse than any embarrassing field storming by any other team.

quote:I've never seen Florida storm the field either. The closest I've seen fans come to storming the field was vs. 1997 FSU. FSU was ranked #1 and was the favorite to win the national title. UF came back to win in the 4th and ruin FSU's season. A few fans jumped on the field but we're quickly tackled by security.
Alabama - N/A
We don't storm the field. Such antics are for lesser programs.

Not a field storming but we had players dance on the 50 at Vandy after a win. Yes, I said Vandy.
