Top baseball prospects almost always turn pro after high school. The players who don't either place tremendous value on their college education or are late bloomers.
This is starting to change. MLB teams are starting to look more and more at college players. Partially because college coaches are actually taking care of their players now. Not like the 80's and 90's when the hitters were on steroids with ridiculous bats and the pitchers were asked to pitch way too many pitches.

I would have thought he'd have been an all-star somewhere in there. Had some really good seasons iirc.

Wrong. Check out Texas:
LSU's list destroys that. I'll give you baseball, but both football and basketball are LSU by FAR.

No it sure doesn't. Your three football HOFers all played 6 decades ago and have absolutely zero name recognition now. YA Tittle? Did they even have the forward pass then? Plus I listed three guys STILL in the league who are already on their way to HOF careers.
And as far as basketball, I'd put Durant up against Shaq- both are all time players. Pistol Pete had 5 all star years, Lamarcus has 5 and counting. Your other three guys are a 50s dude (equal in success to the one I mentioned for us), and two absolute no names including Big Baby Davis?? Sorry but we have the edge there.
And you're right, baseball isn't close.

Baseball:
1. Ian Kinsler - 46.7 WAR, 4 time All-Star
2. Max Scherzer - 31.1 WAR, 3 time All-Star, 1 Cy Young, 3 top fives in Cy Young voting
3. Sonny Siebert - 29.4 WAR, 2 time All-Star
4. Glenn Wright - SS in 20's & 30's, 25.3 WAR
5. Phil Bradley - 18.5 WAR, 1 time All-Star
Football:
1. Kellen Winslow HOF - possibly best TE ever
2. Roger Wehrli HOF - CB - Roger Staubach wouldn't throw the ball to his side
3. Justin Smith - 5 time Pro Bowler & 1 1st team All-Pro
4. Russ Washington T - 5 time Pro Bowler
5. Eric Wright - DB, 2 Pro Bowls & 1 All-Pro, won 4 Super Bowls
There's four or five guys who could have had the last two spots, but I wanted to mention an OL and a player who won a lot.
Basketball: not much to be honest
1. Larry Drew- solid PG
2. Anthony Peeler -
3. Steve Stipanovich - was just starting to come into in own when bad knees forced him to retire after just five seasons
4. Keyon Dooling - very similar type of career to Peeler, good enough to hang around a long time, but never good enough to be a starter.
5. DeMarre Carroll - he's had a nice little career so far.

My list is more in acknowledgement of the fact that Nique tends to be the beginning and the end of all UGA basketball discussions. Anderson of course is noteworthy as is Alec Kessler but it's pretty much Nique and who cares

And you listed 2 FB players from your school who played 3 1/2 decades ago and 7 decades ago, respectively. Guess yours magically don't count...??????
The OP asked 'based on professional success only', but didn't mention """"""""WHEN""""""""" dumbass.
So Texas is the ONLY school that has players 'still in the league' on their way to the HOF? Or recent players who still have a chance to be named?
How about: Andrew Whitworth, Stephen Peterman, Odell Beckham Jr, Booger McFarland, Jeremy Hill, Kevin Faulk, Laron Landry, Ryan Clark, Leonard Marshall, Bert Jones, Marcus Spears.
Or from the past: Jerry Stovall, Johnny Robinson, Fred Miller, Billy Cannon, Tommy Casanova - all multiple All-Pros.
And as far as basketball, I'd put Durant up against Shaq- both are all time players. Pistol Pete had 5 all star years, Lamarcus has 5 and counting. Durant > Shaq ???????????????? As Scrooge told Cratchit: 'Ill retire to bedlam'
The "50s dude" you mentioned is in the NBA Hall of Fame and DOMINATED the league for a decade, just like Shaq did - even moreso.
You are seriously psychotically out of your burnt orange mind........

OP is professional success. Not success in the last 10, 20 whatever years.
Top 5 football for LSU include 3 people actually IN the HOF. The other 2 have finished their careers, and based on pretty much universal opinion will be in the HOF. We didn't even list guys like Bert Jones who was an NFL MVP.
Basketball. Not only are LSU's top 3 HOF, they were ALL THREE voted top 50 players in the NBA all-time. You can't list even one guy who IS in the HOF.
Baseball. I gave you that one. But tbh, if you didn't have Clemens, you would lose that too imo.
