Is Marquette a known Basketball school? yes. anyone who disagrees, including fellow gamecock fans, are fools. DWade, Doc Rivers etc didn't come out of nowhere. That being said, to play devil's advocate, beating them this year when they are clearly nowhere near the level that they usually are at and hanging your hat on that win is foolish as well.

I'LL GO FURTHER:
CFM is a really good coach and with time I think USC can become a consistent NCAA tournament team. The arena is very nice and I hope the SEC and NCAA will consider hosting games there soon.

We told Cock fans(literally) that Frank was a very good coach, can recruit, and gets a lot out of his kids.
We also told Arkansas fans that Suit Case was not what they were hoping for, buyer beware, Suitcase=40 minutes of fraud, not hell. Of course, MU fans jealous, lol
We also knew Kim Anderson would be the nail in the coffin for our bball program. And so it is!

Anything like that, from Howland or Cal, is generally coach speak. I've seen Cal talk up other teams like that, especially in the SEC, to try to get the SEC some more notoriety. He really turns it up in February/March when it effects who gets in and seeding.
That all said, USCe isn't a bad team. Martin isn't a bad coach. No one who isn't outright trolling has said that. What people have done is called out the strength of schedule when there were daily threads about an undefeated USCe team being the best in the SEC.

I'm one of the few non-South Carolina fans that has defended your season. All I'm referring to is Marquette-South Carolina.
You're a wise fellow. Yes,South Carolina is having a much better season than Marquette in '16. But surely you agree that historically Marquette is revered head and shoulders above South Carolina. There were some great games between the two in the 1970's in the immediate aftermath of South Carolina's departure from the ACC in the nomadic period before joining the Metro. Marquette's McGuire would get the best of South Carolina's McGuire but they were good, if not wild, fight marred games nonetheless.

Well to be honest the bottom line is this. Even with SOS ppl still expected Carolina to be garbage. Except there 18-2. People hate being wrong. So instead of saying we got this one wrong maybe pundits are going to cling to every excuse they can from now till the end of Carolinas season to take a dig at them. That's all it is.
