That's cute and all, but being #1 in October means jack shite. Enjoy it because you now have the biggest target on your back. Ask Bama, UF, LSU, and AU how that goes sometimes...

lol, just look at the BIG 6 SEC schools, all pissy with chapped asses because TWO of yall bitches have been replaced in the big 6....my makers mark over ice tastes even more smoother these days.

Y'all are having a great season. However, bring home some hardware before you think you've a place at the table with the Big 6.

Out of curiosity, who exactly do you think MSU and OM replace out of the Big 6 [after one year]?

Will we be #1 again next week too even though we don't play this weekend? Should we be going for Notre Dame in order to stay #1?

First, congrats and enjoy - MSU deserves the accolades at this point and DAK is legit.

That said, voters can be fickle when #1 has a bye but I would guess MSU stays at this spot.

Finally, regarding FSU and ND: I'm holding my nose and pulling for ND - mostly because FreeShoesU has cravenly forsaken even the appearance of propriety. I think an ND win solidifies MSU's ranking for at least one more week.

You left out Mizzou. Was #1 about 7 years ago.

You could start by acting like you've been there before. Oh wait, you haven't so you don't really know how you're supposed to act now do you?

Here's a clue. Be #1 at the end of the year and then you can parade around like a peacock.

True. That's all that matters is being #1 at the end. I still have the personal DVD I made in New Orleans after LSU beat OU, talk about wild on Bourban St. I even have the replica trophy from that year, Times Picayune papers from the next morning(kinda neat seeing the "new" cars from those days), etc. Nice being #1 at the end.

To this day OU fans absolutely despise LSU fans for that night.

Enjoy the week. MSU has a great team, but that only lasts until you lose.

You did not just win the Natty. Not yet.

A potentially undefeated Egg bowl on the road? An SEC title game? A playoff game against a top 4 opponent? Another top 4 team in the national title game?

That's a hell of a 4 game stretch to end a championship run.

The toughest games are still to come.

#1 or not, no one in the conference with the exception of Vanderbilt would trade programs with you

Jealous of what, exactly? Ole Miss is control of their own destiny to win the West, undefeated, and ranked number 3 in the country. If you're an opposing fan would you trade programs with Mississippi State? I'll hang up and listen

No one has won anything yet. There is still a lot of ball to be played and now you are the hunted instead of the hunter. Lot more pressure when your big games left are on the road.

This.

Or, alternatively, lose a game and the rest of the conference says you're in an imminent decline and your program now sucks because you don't win every game or every title, no matter how shitty their own team is. Being #1 is fun, but paints a HUGE target on your back. Every team you play , even a scrub team, treats it as their Super Bowl and gives you their best shot each and every fricking time.
