Who is on the committee? Do all of them have the football-knowledge capacity to actually contribute to a decision. Condi Rice is brilliant, I think she is an awesome person, but does she know enough about football to add meaningful value?
What makes you think Condi Rice isn't capable of taking her role on the committee seriously, looking closely at all available information and making a decision based on defined criteria for inclusion? She is after all brilliant, an awesome person, etc...

I liked the way the BCS picked the teams, however I am not that concerned about a committee.

Should have kept the bcs system. Playoff system is a bad idea in general.
The two aren't mutually exclusive. The playoff system should have been layered on top of the BCS rankings.

My goal is 5 power conference champs. highest ranked of the little 5, and 2 at large.
I hope for whatever scenario leads to the most chaos that make that happen.

I was not in favor of this for a long time. Reasons mostly about protecting the regular season. However with a conference champ requirement the regular season has all the value it would have had in the past and it also allows for a 2011 Alabama. They were clearly one of the two best teams, but in my opinion shouldn't have been given an opportunity to play for a title when another conference champ had a similar record and resume.

Best way to look at it: If you aren't top two don't complain if you were first team left out at #5. Of course, without computers, no one can say who that team was.

A 13 person panel can be paid off, not a computer system.
I'm looking at you Alabama.

I wouldnt go that far but I would suggest some of the non football people could be influenced to seeing things a certain way. It seems to me someone like Oliver Luck could get a vote or two without any integrity issues. But still not be completely fair to the school that got left out by 1 vote and wasnt part of Luck's agenda.
This smells of a clusterf&&k to me. But i will stay open minded and let it play out.
Not sure why u cant just put all the intangibles in place before the season starts like the NFL does. In the NFl everybody knows what it takes to get into the playoffs before and during the season. Certainly the requirements would be much different but this is what the 13 person panel should be working on imo.
Controversy is good for the game and espn, maybe this is what its really all about.

I just hope there will be some form of the BCS rankings available to the public, so as to compare with the committees selections.
