congrats South Alabama for hosting a regional. Here is LSU as a #2 seed in your regional. Would be interested to see the results of that regional.
Not saying we are a great team, but that's almost like "yea, yea, oh shite."

Grumps you know your coming to Tally
A&M wouldnt be a national seed right now anyway. they also wouldnt be sending us to louisville if tech and tcu were in fact national seeds. BA is dumb

What's the over/under for how many of these Regional Site/Hosts change from this projection to the actual selection. Of the 16, would it be reasonable to say that only 9 end up hosting?

I could see that celebration at South Alabama. "Whoa we are hosting" giving everyone high fives and then things settle down and some one looks at the TV again. "Wait who is the #2 seed?" I'm not saying LSU would win the regional, but that would be one of those "oh shite" moments.

Teams that could steal a hosting spot(Base off RPI)
Clemson (Currently #7 in RPI)
Coastal Carolina
UNC
Georgia Tech
Creighton
Kentucky
Michigan State
The RPI gap is huge this year. Outside those 7 teams, who else could host a regional?
Michigan State is 22-6 but with a SOS of 136 and an RPI 28. If they won the Big 10, they might host a regional.

I bet if Michigan State finishes 43-10 and 19-5 in the B1G with an RPI around 25 or so that they get a host.
The NCAA bends over backwards to give northern teams regionals if at all possible. However, I know nothing about their facilities. I bet they aren't big enough.
EDIT:
LOL, yea, no way. Seats 2,500.

My thoughts exactly. We may not be anything special this year, but we have the name, like UK in basketball, or Bama in football.

Big enough means little over trying to expand the regional foot print. Have you seen UCLA's and Cal's parks?

Bet Michigan State would play their games at the Lansing Lugnut Stadium

They would just play it in the minor league park, much like when Purdue hosted in Gary a few years ago.

I'm not sure of their setup, but they could maybe add temporary stands. Didn't UK do that a few years ago?

This is great analysis. I'll add a little.
Clemson is probably the next in line to host. They will probably end up hosting.
Either Coastal Carolina or College of Charleston will host, but not both.
North Carolina and Georgia Tech have work to do, but really are competing against NC State and Clemson.
Michigan State will host if they win the B1G.
Kentucky and Ole Miss need to be in the top 5 in the SEC to have a chance.
Creighton needs South Alabama and or CoC/Coastal Carolina to bomb out.

#4 RPI Ole Miss, a 2 seed in Hattiesburg? not likely. maybe the other way around.

We got fricked from hosting last time because they felt there were "too many Southern sites" and Cliff Hagan is a small venue. I feel like with how top heavy the rankings are with potential ACC and SEC hosts that we'd be one of the last options to steal a spot.
I'd be surprised if they don't dump us in Louisville again as the 2.

The C-USA Champ will host. Right now that looks like USM. I bet they would send LSU to H-burg over Ole Miss though.
I think when all is said and done, the SEC's five hosts will be - State, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Kentucky/Vandy series winner
Its going to be damn funny when Mississippi hosts three regionals with all the bickering about the law they just passed as well as the flag.

This is good
After looking at the polls a few more teams could host
FAU is ranked but has a RPI 40 (We don't need another florida host)
BYU is 26-5 and ranked in the 20-25 range but has a RPI 32 (They might be selected just to have a hosting site in the west. They also have 6 top 50 RIP games left of their schedule)
Missouri State is 26-6 and ranked #16 but they have a RPI 63 (Same reasoning as BYU but they don't have any top 50 RPI games on their schedule)

I probably would add UC Santa Barbara as a team to watch as far as hosts. Still early in their conference season, but they are 21-7 and top 10 in RPI.
BYU not playing on Sunday might actually help them host. C-USA winner will host - whether that's USM, Rice or Florida Atlantic remains to be seen.

Michigan St will play in the minor league park if they submit a bid.
Missouri State will be sent to Oklahoma, I think oSu would host over USA if they were picking.
