Was this guy the most overrated player in College Football?

There will be plenty of QBs selected ahead of JFF.
College is different than the pros.
Deal with it.

Right, just not as impressive as the nineteen who went before him.

So you'd agree that Fisher was more impressive than Joeckel?

What? Bridgewater will probably go before JFF, but that's probably it.

Draft position has only a small part in how good a player is. Swope has yet to be drafted and Im sure he was a better Wr than most drafted before him.

The only real surprise is he's the third Center drafted

It's a surprise because the media grossly inflated his ability and with it our expectations.

That's the point of the thread.

He's a pretty good lineman who loves to hold--nothing more, nothing less.

Swope has concerns though, like a half dozen concussions.

Fisher was definitely a more impressive athlete.

So does every Bama player. Haven't you heard Saban wears his players down?

They call holding in the NFL so he won't be nearly as effective.

Don't know about "small part." The best players are generally taken earlier in the draft (shocking). Just about the only exceptions are players with injuries(Swope) or an addiction to heroin (TM7).

Are you saying that the media liked a guy who could give them a decent soundbyte and interview? A guy who gave them good quotes for stories?

I am shocked at this thinking.

I think it's debatable. I know many teams had Joeckel rated higher.

Reed is a peculiar guy when it comes to OL.

But even conceding Fisher > Joeckel, that has nothing to do with Barrett Jones, who's inferior to both.

I don't think he was overrated as a college player. He won the damn Outland and Rimmington. He was just considered to be already close to his ceiling, where as others might have been lesser players in college might have more untapped potential.

Yeah, that's a 4 month recovery..

Not exactly in the same ballpark as six concussions, so...
