I can always pick out the casuals when I hear this statement. It’s the same thing my 80 year old Aunt Esther says.

those people aren't actual fans. I immediate tune out and ignore anyone who feels that way. Because they're dumb.

I would agree with you but i've had too many people confirm to me "don't you just want the state of Alabama to win?" when referring to even auburn football when not playing us. there's this weird dichotomy of PURE hate vs brotherly love. play each other? we hope they die. playing other teams, "well i just want people from alabama to win it all."

i'm with you. i'm all about wishing the other team ill all the time. it's more fun. that's my nature. on the other hand, sports seem like such a stupid thing to get upset about as i age and see how absolutely shitcrazy the world is.

i'm softening to sports hate b/c y'all ARE my kind of people. this is not intended to be sappy, but realistic. i want OUR way to move forward. hating boogs and volunturds and corndogs is a luxury stressor.

Always loved Barkley. He's a state treasure and should have run for office. I ve met him a couple times. As funny and genuine a guy you will ever meet.

Charles and Bo have always been very much in favor of doing everything to help the state as a whole, including hoping the other schools do well. Agree or not, they are both pretty constant on that.

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. He's real, and that's the low bar I have set for a politician. Just someone I know means what they say, and I can expect exactly that.

I NEVER EVER want to hear an Auburn or Bama fan talk about their "rivalry" being bitter.

As a Gamecock id never ever pull for Clemson in shite. They would never pull for us. Yall arent a rivalry

I don’t mind if the barn wins games that help us.

The stinking Vols however should disband the school in shame, raze it to the ground and sow it with salt.

I'll be pulling for Auburn, along with every other SEC team! I'm a Bama first, then SEC fan!
Envy and jealousy are two of the worst character defects. They rob a person of much joy in their lives.

the problem is that you derive joy in seeing your rivals prosper. How can a person be wired that way? As a bama fan, you should not be receiving joy and happiness by seeing your primary archrival do well. It is unnatural.

I actually do this generally and for football, but I grew up in a split family so a bunch of my relatives went to Bama and pull for them. I also don't live in the south + remember AU getting snubbed in '04 so root for every SEC team over other conferences.

I would root for the basketball team but I can't support someone who contributed to a murder. Innocent until proven guilty, Bama's choice how to handle it, doesn't personally impact me, etc.... but Miller's poor choices contributed to a death, and I can't support that.

A loose comparison is a bunch of brothers and cousins growing up together. We're going to be hyper competitive amongst each other but it's my job to beat them - not anyone else's, and I want every other kid in the neighborhood to talk about us as the tough family that nobody can beat. In other words, I want Auburn beating Georgia in the regular season not Ohio State beating them in the playoff. F that. Next season I'd rather beat Georgia the national champs than Georgia the runner ups who lost to Ohio State in the playoffs.

That way in any decision that impacts all of us, nobody can say "they aren't that tough" (TV contracts, bowls, etc.)...

that's not a good comparison at all. A better one would be a kid that lives down the street in the same neighborhood as you. Y'all lie in close proximity but that's about it.
