Bama Was Great/Better Team, But LSU Played Awful On Their Own, Too

Let me get this out of the way: Alabama was by far the better team. Total domination. LSU was outplayed, outcoached, out-everythinged. The game was only as close as it was because our exhausted defense played their guts out when Alabama got inside the 30 yard line again. So, full credit to Alabama. They beat the crap out of LSU.

But, having said that, as good as Alabama was, LSU also played the worst game I've seen them play since last season when JJ was the fulltime starter and Gary Crowton was the OC. Even when Bama wasn't forcing errors or mistakes, LSU played lifeless and terrible football.

It honestly makes no sense to me how LSU could play so well all season and then lay and egg like they did last night. If LSU and Alabama had not already played in Tuscaloosa, I would say that it was all Alabama and they just were far and away superior across the board. But, we know that isn't the case - at least not as bad as it looked last night.

If LSU had played a perfect game, I still think that Alabama would have won. They were just ready. But, Alabama's complete domination was contributed to by LSU not getting off the bus. Pitiful.

And yes, I do feel better having said that. Bama fans will take what I said, with all of the qualifiers even, as a sign of disrespect. I don't mean any. Bama was great and the better team. But, that was not the LSU team that I've seen all season. Still don't know what happened.

Well, your offense did not do much on Nov. 5 either. You didn't find the endzone. You turned the ball over. At times, you looked inept.

The difference in this game was that McCarron grew up, and Bama was able to get points when they moved the ball.

You guys were not.

Yeah, I get that and I don't deny it in its entirety. Obviously, Bama gets credit for how LSU played to a great extent. But, Bama didn't beat anyone like that all season. They didn't beat Georgia Southern like that and Georgia Southern is an FCS team.

My point is simply, while I give Bama all the credit in the world for the highly sensitive Bama fans who think I might be trying to steal something from you, at the same time, to go along with how complete awesome Bama was, LSU played the most horrible football I've seen them play since probably the Tennessee game last year.

So, yes,

Cause - Effect.

I think it went both ways some.

Agreed. We looked inept at times on November 5.

We were worse than inept the entire game last night. Bama was great, but we were a joke.

How can a team that is 105 in passing stay on the field with the #1 defense in passing and rushing? Your only chance was for Bama to make mistakes and Saban teams usually don't make very many.

LSU has a couple of good QB's now. If I am Les Miles I pit Kiel up against Mett every day and no one gets the job until the season starts but then only one 1. I would go with Kiel even if he's like 40/60 with Mett because he has 4 years to go and will get better. Mett can be back up if something happens to Kiel.

The OP fully acknowledges that Bama played a GREAT game and DOMINATED it. OK!

The simple truth is that Saban had a far better game plan, made adjustments from the previous game, and had his team better motivated to win.

Yes, Bama's play on defense was great and is the primary reason why LSU's Offense couldn't do much. But that said, Miles had a horrible offensive gameplan going into the game. LSU did nothing different than in the first Bama game. LSU asked JJ to do things (bubble screens)last night that he is historically bad at doing. LSU continued to run an option that Bama was very prepared to defend.

JJ was a deer in headlights and was not getting the snap until there was 1 or 2 seconds on the play clock. He was not properly prepared to play against Bama's D. That was obvious.

As great as Bama was last night on Defense (and we are all giving you credit that they were great) LSU was equally horrific in their game plan prep, execution, and in-game adjustments.

Congrats on the victory.

Bama's defense was great but our offense made them look legendary...JJ was Alabama's MVP. McCarron also played lights out, so he should get a lot of credit as well.

Exactly. McCarron played a great game. LSU's defense played reasonably well. I knew they would fall apart at some point and am surprised they held on as long as they did. They were on the field the whole game. But, McCarron played the best game I have ever seen him play. Great game.

LSU's defense played well enough to keep LSU in the game. But, the offense was terrible. Beyond terrible.

Take the interception Jefferson threw to Mosely, for example. If he runs it, with Ware blocking for him, he probably picks up at least a first down. Why do a shovel pass? Alabama did not force him to do that. It was stupid. He is supposed to be a running QB, but instead, thought he'd ad lib. Ware turned around to block, logically thinking JJ was going to run because of the big open field in front of him, and JJ throws it over his head right to a defender.

Stupid.

If JJ had hit Jarvis Landry in stride, he would have run into the end zone. Even Saban admitted that LSU had open receivers. But, JJ was incapable of finding them, as he has been his whole career.

Bama was great. But, LSU, led by Jordan Jefferson, was also terrible.
