What people don't seem to understand is SOS is not the end all be all of how "tough" a team's schedule was. It can be easily skewed to have a team with a "hard schedule" still have an easier path than a team with a "weaker schedule"

A simple example to illustrate this point. Team A and Team B.

Team A: Plays a team ranked #1 in the country and team ranked #70 in the country.

Team B: Plays a team ranked #24 and #25 in the country.

On paper it would say Team B had a much "harder schedule", but Team A has a much greater chance to go 1-1 in the games than Team B does.

The difference in beating a team ranked #40 and team ranked #105 is almost nothing in terms of playing them on the field, but can completely make a team's schedule "harder" averaging it out.

The only thing that really needs to be looked at is games against the Top 15 or Top 20

No - that rating is incorrect in my opinion

This. Y'all didn't play the hardest schedule, but still made it to the championship. No one ever said you had to have the hardest schedule to have a legitimate spot in the championship. Hell, you had a harder schedule than your opponent.

I dont understand why the OP or anyone else for that matter would be making this stretch.

No sane person thinks Bama played the toughest schedule in the country. Bama didn't play Florida and that by itself should exclude them from the title game or at least that is what I keep reading here.

It's not that you didn't play Florida. It's that you didn't play Florida , UGA , or south car in the regular season. You had two hard games and one was at home. Unlike last year , Bama does deserve to be in the BCSCG though.

Phil Steele's analysis shows Alabama with the 53rd toughest schedule in 2012 - Texas A&M had the #1 toughest schedule.

That was dated July 6 which means nothing at this point.

You can't use the rankings after the SECCG, because the argument is the weak(er) schedule is what made it an easier path to get to that game over A&M and LSU.

That never stopped you guys complaining about our early schedule when we played Michigan they were the #8 team in the country,,,,but they took losses during the season so the quality of the win is diluted according to most on here

My bad - I was looking at the NCAA SOS rankings.

Phil Steele's SOS rankings had Notre Dame as #1 toughest schedule, A&M at 8th, and Alabama at 28th.

I think Phil Steele has the credentials to rank the SOS of these teams - what are YOUR credentials?

Yeah, I didn't think so....

The SOS in the OP includes the SECCG

LSU fan said weaker SOS not including the SECCG is what got you in the SECCG...
