400 yards wins games against MSU?
I think 400+ would be a good barometer for thinking Alabama wins Saturday, particularly if Alabama can put up 200+ ground and air, which was really my point.
Obviously points are the only thing that matters. MSU has good red zone defense numbers, so Alabama is going to have to cash in when they get down there. I think they will have a good number of red zone opportunities.

Don't you have to hold us under 400 first?
No, but that would certainly be another barometer indidicating an Alabama win.
I think Alabama can win the field position battle with the way Scott has been punting. Certainly can't give Dak short fields.

while the most similar defense to yours gave us 570 in their house
I'm guessing this is LSU? If so, that is an impressive showing for sure. I thought LSU's defense was impressive last Saturday night, and for MSU to have put up 34 points and 550+ yards is certainly .
I'm expecting a 4 quarter one score game. I'm kind of glad Alabama has been in a couple of those this year, because they are going to have to keep their composure through adversity and possibly come through in the clutch moments again.

Moo State could have lost to UAB, Arkansas
Oregon could have lost to Wash State
FSU could have lost to everyone
TCU could have lost to West Virgina
etc etc...

You seem defensive of your dumb education and General studies degrees.

You may want to visit a stat sheet called "game control" on ESPN so you aren't just dumbassing your way through arbitrary periods of games that were never actually in doubt.
You basically just invalidated the premise for this thread. From article on ESPN stats today:
Something has to give
Mississippi State and Alabama rank first and second in Strength of Record and Game Control, respectively.
At 9-0, Mississippi State has the best resume in the country, but FPI projects that Alabama is the strongest team in the nation on a neutral field. We will learn a lot about these teams Saturday, but Alabama’s ability to stop Prescott should go a long way toward determining which team has the upper hand in the SEC West.

I think I'll stick with the ESPN sheet called "play by play". You know, the one that actually lists every single play in the game?
Let's see what it says about the MSU - Kentucky game
Huh, imagine that. It shows UK scoring a TD to make the score 38-31 with 2:22 left in the game so I was wrong. It was a 7 point game with LESS than 2:30 left in the 4th.
Maybe I was also wrong about the Arkansas game. Let's see what the ESPN play by play says about that game.
Well gee, call me crazy but it sure seems to indicate that Arkansas had the ball 1st and 10 at the Mississippi State 16 yard line and then Brandon Allen proceeded to throw an interception in the end zone at the 15 second mark.
I'll certainly take your suggestion under advisement however, because it makes perfect sense to me that some arbitrary notion of 'game control' means more than the actual score, down & distance, and clock time of a game.

If LSU didn't choke on defense for 50 seconds and if Arkansas could make chip shot field goals they'd have 3. This Bama team is not as good as advertised.
You're better than this.

It took overtime for you to score 20 on LSU's shitty defense? You guys are fricked
And MSU gave up 31 points to A&M's shitty offense. You guys are fricked.

MSU's passing defense is 121st out of 125 teams. That's all I needed to see when guessing the outcome of this game. 121st? You can't pretty that up MSU. That's just bad. Yes, yes, I know about the garbage TD's with your second team guys. Doesn't matter. 121st???? WTF?? The Sims/Cooper show will be on display Saturday. This could get ugly.

MSU is in LAST place in the SEC in pass yards per game and in 12th place in total yards per game. Meanwhile Bama has the top rated passer in the SEC and the #1 receiver in the SEC. Yup, looks like a shut out to me.

You should have lost to UAB. /thread
they were winning 47-27 going into the 4th quarter. UAB scored a TD with 49 seconds left in the game to make it 47-34. How does that translate into "they should have lost"?

The only stat that actually matter is W/L's and we're undefeated. Something y'all can't say

That "stat" only matters at the end of the year. Not now.

All the trash talk on both sides is just silly. These are very even teams this year. Truth is if they played 10 times they likely split them, or come close. This game is a coin toss and nobody knows how it's going to turn out.
Bama and MSU both won very similarly close games against Arky. MSU beat LSU worse(even though Bama won by more points), but anybody with a brain knows LSU is not the same team they were early in the season. Bama slaughtered TAMU way worse than MSU. Both could have named the score against a bad USM team. Looking at common opponents does nothing to separate either from the other. It's going to be a hell of a game!

State loooked solid against UAB. States biggest flaw is their secondary. Bama's best weapon is their passing game. So...

This makes sense, but there's a whole other side of the ball that you're forgetting about. Alabama hasn't seen anyone remotely close to this offense without the reigns on it.

By in control, I mean had the lead and never were threatened to lose that lead. At worst maybe be tied but every time it got within 1 score we scored again, with Arkansas being the 1 outlier
