Meh. The Committee got that much right. Teams that are undefeated shouldn't be propped up when their SOS is 37th in the country compared to Alabama with the 4th strongest schedule.
Alabama also went 2-1 vs Top 10, 9-1 vs Top 30.
Florida State didn't play a Top 10 team, 4-0 vs Top 30.
Cause Sagarin

I think if you're good enough to be considered a top 4 team, and you're the only one undefeated, and you're defending your NC, then you have an argument for being #1. It's as simple as that. If the committee doesn't think the ACC is a good conference, then why even consider them one of the power 5 conferences? Treat them the same way as they do the American or Big East.
1. Top 4 team sure, but better than Oregon or Bama? Hard sell, you're going to need a lot of evidence.
2. Undefeated doesn't matter. Reference: Boise State.
3. Defending your title from last year -- schools change drastically from year to year. This is not FSU of last year, and they don't deserve style points from a year ago to make an argument for contemporary games.
4. The ACC isn't as good as the SEC West, they had a good run against East teams but look at the evidence.
FSU is the ACC #1 and barely beat Florida, the SEC 8/9.
Georgia Tech is the ACC #2 and barely beat Georgia, the SEC 5/6 in overtime.
Clemson, the ACC #3 overall beat South Carolina -- who is #5 in their division, and is 10th overall in the SEC as a whole -- it's the only solid victory the ACC had.
Louisville, the ACC #4 nearly lost to the SEC #11.
This is not impressive, and is a clear sign that if it was #1 vs. #1, #2 vs. #2 etc. etc., the ACC would not fare well at all.
Alabama vs. FSU, Miss. State/Ole Miss vs. Georgia Tech, Miss. State/Ole Miss vs. Clemson and Mizzou vs. Louisville?
Totally different outcome.

Good post straws, but Boise is not undefeated.
Ole Miss took care of them right out of the gate.

Think he was referring to Boise of the past.

agreed. but in this case FSU only lost 5 players to the NFL IIRC. And they return the most important position, who happens to have just won the Heisman. And they are still undefeated, which is as far from a drastic change to last year as you can be, given they were also undefeated last year.

I agree, but at least they played SEC schools. And they're conference is good enough to be considered a power 5 conference.

this is way too deep. You can't compare all of these games and base your opinions/decisions if you're on the committee. You can't expect teams to play the same way they do in week 2 vs an emotional game in rivalry week. Not to mention injuries, suspensions, home vs away games, weather conditions, etc...just too many factors to expect to be accurate in your scenarios. Not to mention you used a bunch of SEC losses to ACC teams to further prove your point.

Indeed -- and ND a few years back.

I think Winston's play this year and the last few games is more relevant than what he did last year.
He's not even considered for the Heisman this year.

Which is bizarre because they've been playing like hot garbage until the last few minutes of the game. Win convincingly, get a better spot, it's as simple as that.
Have games be close when they should be blowouts -- that's how you end up at number 2/3.

Clemson played and lost to Georgia in the beginning of the year as well. Badly, might I add.
And if Georgia had Gurley, they would have destroyed GT.

Yes you can.
One game is a fluke -- four games where the best of the ACC played the mediocre of the SEC and they had one win that was over two possessions is extremely telling.
