True. Should have had a plan in place like ... Tenn before pulling the trigger.

WTH are you talking about?

Mar ?? - prior to firing Tyndall, Tennessee puts new plan in place
Mar 27 - Tennesse fires Tyndall
Mar 29 - Texas Coach Barnes resigns under pressure
Mar 31 - Tennessee hires Barnes due to this plan in place

Got it.

Grant was miserable for the kind of money he was getting. 1 tournament appearance in 6 years with no wins.

He should have been out last year when we had our worst season in 45 years.

Hell no

LSU fans would riot if Johnny Jones made the NCAAT one time in six seasons and was still employed. Grant was also way overpaid for his performance. It was the perfect storm with lots of disposable income and no blue bloods hunting for coaches

I started this job 3 years ago. I remember the couple of weeks I had between jobs, working on my deck and listening to sports talk radio all day, that there was a ton of talk about getting rid of Grant back then. So I'd say they waited too long by about 2 years. After year 4 it is time.

Jones has already accomplished as much-probably more-than Grant in half the time, and a portion of our fan base would be elated to see him leave

Grant and Ray were nothing alike. Grant had Bama in the NIT semifinals in year two and the tourney in year three. Ray never had a .500 record.

NC state is doing fine with Mike

Somebody needs to go back and look at MG's first five or six seasons at Bama. He did pretty well. It was the complacency that sat in that caused that change. Did Auburn jump the gun firing Tubs? The exact damn thing occurred. Why do Auburn fans keep bringing up shite that isn't even true and try to pass it off as fact? I don't think Tubs was unsuccessful at Auburn just because he tanked his last couple of seasons. I damn sure don't try and tell the world his entire career at Auburn sucked. Why do Auburn fans feel the need to do that with MG?

Since when is beating auburn in basketball a measuring stick?

Since Bruce Pearl went 4-14 in conference play, but made it to the Semi finals of the SEC tournament. That moment turned Auburn basketball into one of the elite.

False. I still think the Grant hire was a wise one. Just didn't work out.

I totally agree with this. Grant is a very nice man, and I am sure very knowledgeable about Basketball, but he is the most boring coach that I have ever seen. I prefer that my basketball coach show emotion. He is a very classy guy and represented the school well except one place and that was on the court. There must have been something wrong with his relationships with the players, because he could recruit good players, but then they would leave.

There was something else happening when Tubs left besides losing a few games. In my opinion, he wanted to leave, but he wanted it done in some way that he would still get his money and he did. Can't blame a guy for that.
