A certain % of these players will flame out. Bama has brought in more elite players, and so they've had more elite players bust. Makes sense to me.

The House Republicans have changed their plan on de-funding Planned Parenthood after reading this thread.

As Michael Irvin said, "There is a difference in a collection of talent and a collaboration of talent". Just because someone is talented, doesn't mean they are always willing to fit into their role.

Also, for the "wasted" part of your comment:
quote:

Burton Scott
Tyler Love - never as talented as people thought
Rod Woodson - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
Brent Calloway - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
Danny Woodson - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
Eddie Williams - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
Dee Hart - often injured, played a ST role. did well at CSU, but was never going to supplant Yeldon, Lacy, etc
Tyler Hayes - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
O.J. Howard - does alright. Wasn't used well last year, but way too soon to say he wasted talent or that Bama wasted his talent
Chris Black - still on team. Not as talented as Cooper or Ridley or STewart or Foster. Doesn't mean he's not talented, but he he got a shot saturday and dropped it. If he's gonna complain, then he needs to make most of his shots.
Alvin Kamara - wasn't going to pass Yeldon or Henry. Saw it. Complained. Was a cancer. Was asked to leave. What has he done at UT so far?
Tyren Jones - booted from team. wasted his opportunity
Bo Scarbrough - seriously? Saturday is his first eligible game bro.
David Cornwell - sometimes the kids need to step up. That's the case here. Bama isn't wasting him. He's not playing consistently enough in practice to warrant playing. If you can't beat out Coker or Bateman, that's on him

And players keep showing up by the bus loads to play there. A lot of five stars would rather ride the pine at bama then play for State. It's not a bad problem to have if your bama

I think you raise some very valid points Larry. It's too bad the pumpers within your fanbase would rather keep their heads firmly entrenched within the sand than open their eyes and see what you're seeing.

No, no, no. The first response is supposed to be something about Larry killing his father.

Not everyone can be a superstar. When your whole team is made up of 4 and 5 stars, some guys just aren't going to cut it. Look at the ones who have, we have a lot of them too.

People like you fascinate me, Larry. Instead of acknowledging the mass horde of talent that Bama has won championships with and sent to the NFL, you would rather focus on the people that didn't make it at Bama due to whatever reasons. Some were injured, some were lazy, some weren't as good as advertised, some couldn't behave. Some of it is just bad luck. Are you trying to earn favor from rival fans by showing that this coaching staff that returned Bama to the top of Mount Olympus is not good enough for you? Your father Larry, you are killing him.

When you go from high school to top level college ball, where everyone on your team and opposing teams have just about the same physical talent, mindset becomes more important. Mental toughness has as much, or more, to do with success as physical tools.

Now go and make a thread of the players that were superstars. The ones that played to their potential, won multiple championships, were drafted and are now in the NFL.

So is Bama recruiting the wrong guys, or is the coaching staff to blame in your great opinion larry?

I would rather have a long list of 5 stars that did not work out over a period of a few years than a short list of 5 stars in my program.

Obviously Bama is not recruiting the wrong guys. In case you forgot, they have a few national titles. As for recruiting the wrong guys, Urban Meyer is the master at recruiting the wrong thugs, I mean guys.

Its really sad that our coaching staff couldn't find a way to use all of these elite classes to their potential

It's all part of Saban's process.

I honestly think that Nick Saban is the Greatest Coach of all-time at amassing boat loads of sheer talent.

But when it comes to everything else, he's mediocre at best. Alabama has had more talent- and usually its not even close- than every team they've faced on the field since Florida in '09 yet somehow they lose a game or two every season.

There's no excuse for that except coaching.
