Shouldn't it either be pronounced with both j's being soft (Hulio Hones) or both hard j's (Julie-O Jones)?

My fiancée and i damn neAR went to blows over naming our future son. White people take shot like that for granoted (she's white) she is fascinated by ghetto arse names. We got one reAl fricking job as parents, when they are old enough to work, don't give them a name that will get them auto tossed before they are even interviewed. P
Our sons name will be Joseph or she can find someone else to sign the birth certificate.

I mean, she wanted to name a girl sapphire its like she saved the girl the trouble from having to remember a stripper name and a birth name and gave her one name to remember because make no mistake if your daughter name is sapphire, she will be a stripper, seriously I could not sign the sapphire certificate that is a line to far

Yea, I went to school with two kids named Apples (pronounced Ah Plez) and Pajama (pronounced Pa Ja May). Brother and sister, but not twins. Of course at that school my name was the odd one...

For the number of times people have repeated that stupid joke you'd think you'd run into one of these orangejellos somewhere but you don't because it is not true.

Lots of "culture" in those names.

You do realize this same story is told by people across the country all claiming the exact same stupid names right? Yet somehow someway no one has yet to provide any evidence of two such people EVER existing... Can you please break the mold and provide a picture from your yearbook and where you went to school so this mystery can finally be solved?

Try being a school teacher. I hate it for the kids. These dumb arse names aren't limited by race either. Make no mistake about it!!
I went to school with a girl who's name was spelled "S H I T E E!" Pronounced " Shi---tee!" My father was an educator for 31 years and his last 5-6 were spent calling out the names of the seniors during the graduation ceremony. He showed me a middle name for one such senior and I about died. "S H I T H E A D!" Pronounced " Shi---thead!" Why do that to a kid? Who in their right mind thinks this is a good idea?

But judging people by their name is kind of a douche thing to do.

It certainly is, but it happens and always will happen - so I can't understand why a parent would handicap their child right out of the gate simply by trying to be 'creative'.

I tried to find the unspeakably bad "Julio Jones Rap" by the white Bama couple. (I point out that they're white because it's the whitest 'rap' song you could ever imagine.) Apparently the video was taken down. Too bad, it was so bad it was delicious.

"His name is Julio Julio Julio Jones.......his momma named him that."

You won't go into many homes of black doctors, engineers, etc., and find that they give their children such names. It's as much of a class issue as it is race.

Do you think its because the doctors and engineers have class, or because they realize if their child has an ethnic name they will be discriminated against? Maybe the doctors and engineers think, If I give my child an ethnic name he/she might not get an interview because people will think he/she does not have class....Just a thought.

I have friend who works with me and is an African American single mom. She names her son "Nigel" for that very reason. It's pretty funny when people assume they are about to meet a British kid sees a black kid walk in.
