if the design of the pass plays sucks, it doesn't matter what kind of a passer he is ...

People act like the QB is holding or has held bama down all this time...
Hurts could lead my team out of the tunnel any day.

We'll see. He'll be a true freshman with the same issues Hurts and any true freshman had : speed of the game, throwing receivers open, giant step up in competition.
He seems like a really good player but starting as a true freshman is insanely hard, and he didn't play great competition week in and week out in high school. Would be a pretty giant step (not to mention beating out Hurts).
I love Hurts and expect him to progress and be a solid QB who is comfortable in the system next year.

I do. It's due to 10-0.
The only people who hate on Jalen Hurts are Alabama fans ... Most of us love the fact that he will be your QB for the next two years.
And I'm sure Tua will be the GOAT! He's got burning 4.9 forty speed.
Plus he's been playing that STIFF competition in Hawaii... The 3rd best player in Hawaii is the #1,424 ranked player in the country!
Nice!
ETA:
Didn't realize he killed it at the Army game, 33 yards passing with 27 yards rushing. Impressive!

Telling yourself that isn't going to make anyone believe it.

Faster than AJ Mccarron. He won 2 national titles and beat LSU 3 times

Just like Marcus Mariota. What ever happened to him?
LSU hasn't beaten Alabama in the last 6 tries. 2 of those were with a glorified running back according to you. How terrible is that? Like seriously, that's not rhetorical. How bad does Alabama own LSU? A true freshman QB that isn't any good beat LSU in tiger stadium. Damn.

He has to hurry back to his room, throw off his LSU hat and put on his Clemson hat once you actually started talking Alabama v LSU.

I think we will pass on the l6u advice. We have seen your QBs and that is enough.

Hurts just played in NC game and he is only eighteen. I think he will only get better also how many other teams would like Hurts on theirs... I don't get the hate as he is a helluva good player.

Yea, I don't either. He played a bad game Monday, but he's a true freshman. He might not progress at all as a passer. If that's the case, then we'll have issues, but almost all talented freshman make jumps from year 1 to year 2. I expect the game to slow down for him and for him to become more comfortable.

He didn't play a bad game. He made enough plays to win. His receivers let him down over and over. He overthrew some deep balls. He underthrew one or two. The Washington game is a different story.

So he's just going to come in and dethrone the QB that just had one of the GOAT true freshmen years for a QB? Sounds rational.

Eh.....between the missed receivers on throws, the bad decisions on pass or run and the times he just didn't see/recognize open 2nd and 3rd options.....it wasn't a great showing.
His receivers had some bad drops and he, as always, made a huge play late in the game, but it was not his best ballgame.
And that's ok. He's 18. Anybody mad about it is an idiot. It should be expected to happen against really good teams as a true freshman.

You're my favorite Bama poster. Really solid. But numbers don't always tell the story. Jalen did enough to put the team in a great position to win. Other breakdowns were the culprit.

He had a better season passing and rushing than true freshman Lamar Jackson last year and that kid scored like 25 touchdowns in the first month of his sophomore season and won a heisman at Louisville
Jalen is going to be a stud. Can't wait for A-day though because Tua will start for the other side, then we'll really have a ramped up QB controversy conversation

Much appreciated.
I'm actually not even thinking about the numbers (to be honest, I'm not even sure what his final numbers were). I'm more commenting on the view from my seat in the end zone. But, since I really don't feel like re-watching that ballgame, there are probably some things I missed.
My immediate impression was that Jalen was thinking too much, and that made him make some rushed decisions (especially on scramble run/throw plays). However, the receivers didn't help much. Terrible combination.

Yep - Jackson was a crazy man throwing the ball his freshman year. His sophomore year he was not perfect, but he clearly was more comfortable in the offense and in making reads and he got better at throwing to spots.
I doubt Jalen will be Peyton Manning next year, but I'd be shocked if he wasn't much much more advanced in the passing game. He's a smart kid and a workaholic, he'll be all over it this offseason.

Absolutely agree with the thinking too much. That has been his heel for the last 3 games. There's really no blame, Clemson was better that night. By one play. The guy has it, though. He's going to be a legit star.
