When did the fan base realize yall had a winner and would be competing for title's soon. Was it seeing the team improve? Previous success at LSU? Was there doubt after his first meh year? I really dont remember. Kelly really seems to be building something. Just wanted to know when the bama fan base was like yeah thats our guy.

Saban didn't have the portal. Big difference maker for sure.

It was nice being able to point to 0 games where we lost by more than 7. But October onward wasn’t too encouraging

It just seems like after these last 2 games the LSU fan base has finally accepted Kelly as the guy. Was trying to remember if there was a game or series of games that Saban established himself as the guy at Bama.

2008 recruiting class and how the team responded to how 2007 ended up.

The 2008 clemson game got me excited, the Georgia blackout game is when I knew. So to answer your question, about one season

Kelly is doing exactly what you want from a new HC, he’s making steady improvement every week. He’s building a good team.

2007 started great but faded hard and stupid people said stupid things. By 2008 it was clear Alabama was going to be a power going forward.

He also had a blank check from the REC, and Carte Blanche from the NCAA/SEC offices to buy whoever he wanted.
The evidence and proof was all over the place for the first few years, but the NCAA just looked the other way.
After it was built, it just sustained itself.

Arkansas. Team didn’t fold down the stretch in a four quarter dogfight. Vividly remember thinking ‘yep, that’s 100% a loss with Shula.’

The way Bama played LSU that year gave me hope. Had JPW not fumbled, LSU might not have their second NC trophy.

Saban and the AD didn't get along. I guess the Prez sided with Bertman. It cost LSU a number of NCs.

I do remember that game and the fumble. I remember breathing a sigh of relief and thinking man we are lucky to come away with the W.

That's actually not a bad point. We KNEW Saban was bringing good times, but shite got real very fast when #8 showed up.

Bama literally gave everything they had in that game because they lost the next three to Mississippi State, UL Monroe, and Auburn. They literally shut down, but the bowl game against Colorado brought back some hope. Once I saw Julio Jones and Mark Ingram in the game against Clemson in the ‘08 opener, I knew it was probably for real. Then that blackout game against Georgia confirmed it.

Yep.
With the picture he posted of him with his pimped out Escalade in front of his momma's house...
while he was still in high school...
and unemployed...
In case you all don't recall, the house was probably worth about half the Escalade.

I wonder where he got the money to buy that ride?

I was listening to JOX on my Sony Walkman at work when Julio committed to Bama. I knew then that we were on our way. He was such a big recruit and I knew things were different then. Shula wasn’t landing those big fish. I do thank Shula for locking Rolando McClain down for Saban though!
