I read it and I agree with everything besides your prediction that we will not miss AJ next season.

He played sub par tonight, but he was excellent in 2 NC bowl games, and was excellent in most of his other games. Our Oline was just awful tonight, and besides Henry(who is a fricking animal), our run game wasnt great. I still have a ton of respect and appreciation for the guy and i still am extremely happy that he was on our side. ROLL TIDE, frickERS.

At the 1% margin, sure. But the reason no back has ever had the agility of Barry Sanders isn't because they didn't work hard. And Usain Bolt isn't breaking world records because of hard work. In fact, his training is notoriously light.

I'm not the ultimate arbiter of greatness. But I can tell you that I saw Randy Moss play in person his rookie year in a preseason game, and I had a pretty good idea that he was the best wide receiver I'd ever seen.

And people will always argue about who is the greatest of the greatest, but I do think greatness jumps off the screen. You don't have to look for it.

Does this board have a problem with alters? Why do people keep asking me this?

They're not allowed on SEC Rant or TD and is a bannable offense.

No no, when I wrote "problem with alters", I didn't mean "does the board take issue with alters". I meant, do alters plague the board such that people are always on the lookout for them.

I'm not an alter.

Yes they are and it's well deserved....

Normal football fans would be happy to be in the Sugar Bowl, realizing that they can't expect a NC every year.

But, even after winning two in a row, 3 of the last four, Bama fans felt like they were too good for the Sugar Bowl and still feel like they had the best team in the Country.

It's sad really.

I would replace "But even" with "Because".

This is the sixth year of a pretty incredible run for Bama football. It could be that this type of run of sustained success would make any fanbase smug and entitled. I don't have any friends who went to USC, so I can't speak to their fanbase circa 2008, but I doubt they were a model of humility.

When writing, think about your intended audience. When posting on the Rant, brevity is key. For instance, instead of posting this:
quote:

1. A.J. Mccarron is absolutely fricking terrible at being anything other than merely average: There will be no drop off next year at the QB position. I have no idea who will be the QB for Bama next year, but he'll be just as good as Mccarron. Bama fans would argue till they were blue in their goddamn faces that A.J. Mccarron was, in fact, good -- or even great -- at the game of football. They were wrong. Silly wrong. Wildly wrong. Anybody with a head on their shoulders knew they were wrong, and has known they were wrong for the last three years. He was average. And so Bama fans: yes, you are completely delusional, and you shouldn't be proud of that fact, but in this particular case you should be happy that it is a fact.
Post this instead:

No, I mean Alpha Dog.

72-9 from 2008 to current. No other team comes close to matching that record.

this

whenever i get carried away at recruiting highlights i look at DMAC's highschool highlights

on special teams, defense and offense, every time he touches the ball it's a touchdown, and everyone else is in slow-motion.

Did I mention that an inordinate amount of Bama fans didn't actually go to school there (or anywhere else), serve no useful purpose in life, should be legally banned from reproducing, and serve as an excellent argument for the legalization of post-birth abortions.

I will probably be one of the few who actually read your posts.

First, AJ isn't a world beater at QB. I can honestly say in my lifetime there has never been a world beater QB at the helm of the Alabama offense.

Nussmeier and McElwain were able to take average and above average QBs from the Shula era and early Saban recruiting era and develop them in defense awareness. That is why both offenses from those OCs have that 5 yard HB dump pass instead of using them as blockers on 1st and 2nd non running downs.

I honestly see AJ going into the draft and being a late pick like McElroy and being a backup.

Alabama does have two QBs right now with that same pocket passer style but I do not know if they will see any playing time.

Alabama's offenses under Saban have been like jigsaw puzzles. Remove one piece, add another.

Alabama's defense is always going to be nasty but I am wondering if Saban will ever change his base scheme again like he did in the aTm game.

Anyway, thanks for not actually trying to troll like 99% of the board us tonight. I attended Alabama through the shula years and I can say I hope I never see that era again.

What I saw tonight reminded me of the 99 orange bowl except alabama didn't make that comeback in the final minutes.

First of all, this sentence doesn't even make sense but since I'm familiar with the Rant I understand what you're saying. Second of all, AJ is an almost perfect game manager. People usually take game manager as an insult but it's not. Being a great game manager isn't easy and McCarron will be greatly missed by Bama, no doubt about it. Don't think there's a QB on the roster that can be a good game manager.

quote:

2. That Henry kid is best back Saban has had:

Can't say this for sure yet. He played one game against a worn out defense that's known to give up rushing yards. But it does look like he has all the tools to be great.

quote:

The D will be better next year

Well you just make a blind statement here. Secondary is weak. It gets weaker with Haha leaving and no high profile corners coming in that we know of yet. (Auburn flipped two corners from Bama ) Also lose CJ Moseley which will hurt.

quote:

Bama is still the Alpha Dog in the league

When the Alpha Dog is dethroned, they are no longer the Alpha dog.

I'm thinking 9-10 wins for Bama next year.
