What kind of payout does the school get for playing a neutral site game?
Besides the marquee matchup and some national attention, what are the benefits of playing a one off game at the Dome or the game in Jax against FSU?
You are going to get the national attention no matter where the game is played, and with all the dang televised games it isn't like it is going to be the only game broadcast that day/night. The only thing I can think of is that there has to be a pretty good payout and neither team has to lose a home game the next year to balance it out.
The payouts are VERY nice. Alabama received guaranteed money for both of their neutral site games the last two years, and will again when we face Virginia Tech in Atlanta to start next season.
The other benefit, especially in the case of Bama playing in Atlanta, is the ramped up exposure. The commission that set these games up is marketing them as the first big game of the season, on the first weekend of play. Its presented almost as a bowl game. The exposure Alabama has gotten in Georgia has been a real boon to recruiting over there, where we really haven't historically had a good foothold.
I LOVE these games, and hope we continue to do them for years to come...I want Notre Dame in Orlando in 2012!!*

Oh yeah, and that bitch from Arizona State tricked Bertman into making that 2005 game in Tempe a "home" game. We have to go there in 2013 or 2014.

Bama Penn St had a long series in the 80's. I interviewed for my residency at Penn ST and went to the Bama-Penn ST game. Bama blocked an extra point at the end and won by one.
For the most part Alabama has had a big time OOC team on the schedule.

I remember that game well. Penn. State was running down our throats and Joe Pa decided to kick a field goal. Thomas Rayam blocked it. I still believe today, Penn St. woulda won that game had they just handed off one more play.

They would have it was forth and less than one and they tried the FG and it was blocked.

Me a buddy and his dad was taking a trip up the Tenn River and was listening to that game. We had just reached in island we were gonna camp at and they kept popping off run after run after run, I just knew the game was gonna be lost, until the kicker came on. That had to be a tough loss for Penn St fans that day.

I knew we play Tennessee sometime in the future; I don't think the dates have been finalized yet.

Other than F$U, Miami, USF, nothing sexy. I wish we leave the state once and a while. I wouldn't mind playing a Penn State or Big 12 team, or USC again.

UGA opens @ Okie St. in 2009, goes to Colorado and plays the Buffalos' in 2010. After that we have games with Louisville, Clemson, and Oregon on a home/away basis starting in 2012, and going through 2014-2015. I'm not sure of the exact rotation, but I know those are the teams coming up in ooc play for the next several years.

LSU's ooc is just like Florida's. We play the in-state rivals too.
